[7:53] Luke 6, verse 27 to the end. But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you and pray for them which despitefully use you. [8:08] And unto him that smitheth thee on the one cheek offer also the other. And him that taketh away thy foe forbid not to take thy coat also. [8:21] View to every man that asks of thee. And of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. May she would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. [8:34] For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? For sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? [8:49] For sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them a firm ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. [9:02] But love ye your enemies and do good and lend, hoping for nothing to gain. And your reward shall be great. And ye shall be children of the highest. [9:15] For he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be therefore merciful as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged. [9:28] From them not, and ye shall not be condemned. Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Give, and it shall be given unto you good measure. [9:39] Press down, and shake them together, and run it over. Shall men give unto your women? For with the same measure that ye meet with all, it shall be measured for you again. [9:52] He spake a parable unto them. Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master. [10:05] But every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Why beholdest thou the moat that is in thy brother's eye? But perceiveest not the beam that is in thine own eye. [10:18] He that cast out, even how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the moat that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye. [10:34] I hope to cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shall thou see clearly to pull out the moat that is in thy brother's eye. [10:47] For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit, neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. [11:00] For a thorn man do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather thy grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good. [11:15] And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil. For of the abundance of the heart is mad speaker. [11:25] Why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you that whom he is like is like a man who has filled an house, and dig deep, and laid the foundation in the rock. [11:48] When the flood arose, the stream beat me, and only upon that house, and could not shake it, but was founded upon a rock. For he that heareth and doeth not is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth, against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was grave. [12:18] May the Lord bless his word and help us now in prayer. Merciful Lord God, we do pray that they will hear our petitions, we do pray, Lord, in light clear out them on high, to truly seek for those blessings that our sins are given to give. [12:41] And so we would, Lord, confess our sins. And all heaven need, Lord, to be given broken hearts and contrite spirits. [12:54] We've come here this afternoon, Lord, with a humble hope that I continue in the aid of the Spirit, to preach the everlasting truth of the gospel. [13:07] Lord, does thy sheep hear thy voice? The goats will hear it by way of judgment on them nations. [13:19] Lord, the one evidence is that we hear thy voice. Lord, it is only the gift of grace given that we shall that we shall be favoured and to be noted to be here. [13:36] That we might come more to the desire to truly hear thy voice through the language of the gospel. Lord, three willers don't hear thy voice. [13:48] It's only those that are called while they feel the sovereign grace that are brought to feel their loss and ruin. Brought to feel, Lord, that they are without hope in this only the world of salvation. [14:07] We've got to come in our own strength, Lord. We come, Lord, with a desire that all I stood upon us of grace and of supplication that we might come with weeping and supplication we might sow in tears, Lord, for the felt burden of our sins. [14:28] If we know not the burden of sin, Lord, there's not much hope of us hearing thy voice. And so we do try and cast our cares and ferns upon thee and pray for answers of prayer, divine instruction and teaching from on high, not from man, from on high, not our own feelings, Lord, not our own choosing a word, Lord, that suits our flesh. [14:58] But we want the Lord to know that thou have chosen us in the furnace of affliction. Those who are the same the right thing that he has because there was a plate of water. [15:11] We have no mind against the great company that surrounds us and it's in our hearts, Lord, because we are finally minded, which is death. For the spiritual mindedness, Lord, is ungrowing to the chosen vessel and shall be found, Lord, prepared for the end of our lives and having abundance into the kingdom of heaven. [15:38] Or may we not, Lord, be left for ourselves to think that we are something when we're nothing, that we're clung upon his hand to make us a love of honour, right enough of dishonour. [15:54] And no might, Lord, against the company of devils that are surrounded and sometimes inside us. And so we come and serve in the Lord to make us right and keep us right. [16:07] And don't leave us Lord to be deceived by the adversary walking about as a roaring vine or as subtle as a serpent seeking they may devour as creatures of the earth. [16:22] And so Lord, a very important method with us is to know how to co-stand and it's without imagination to ask and get imagination to never talk into the obedience of Christ to truly honour him, worship him, and follow him as drawn by the courts of man and by the bank of his law. [16:48] Lord, there's so much deception today in religion, there's so little of the work of grace, so few Lord that have been chosen by thee to follow them. [17:00] And so don't leave us Lord to be tempted to think that we're right when we're all the time far away from the truth. Jesus said you should know the truth and it's only his voice we shall hear if he tunes our ears to hear his voice by the spiritual word. [17:22] We do hear our prayer, Lord, and have mercy upon Zion. We know we're managed to brought love. We'll account so many places Lord, even in the city to think they're right. [17:36] And all the while Lord, it's a religion of flesh. Lord, our only hope is in the end. We'll only leave us to be building our hopes upon false foundations. [17:48] May Christ be the rock of our salvation. We will grant then of reviving the religion. There seems to be so little evidence in the vanes that we live in. [18:02] But we hear, Lord, on the whole past of the truth as it is in Jesus. To be enabled to speak Lord of what they've done for their soul and not being left to imagination to bring every thought then into the appearance of Christ. [18:20] And have mercy upon our guilty man and nation. How few Lord attend the Son of Peace. How few Lord do it and know anything of the reality of that religion and be born again by the walking of spirit. [18:35] The Lord Jesus who come do what the speaker shall speak in the afternoon with it badly. And grant all that it might take root and bear fruit in the hearts of our head. [18:50] We thank you Lord the providential message. We still look to the Lord to gather us round our world and feed ourselves with the people who do those real evidences that it is the voice of the Lord that calls us to repent and gives us faith to believe. [19:11] Lord do undertake for us to give all we ask in this and make up and give him when we don't ask him Lord now to be unable to exhort Christ to lay the sin alay that we might be prostrated in the duct if so be there might be hope of eternal life and salvation through the merits of Jesus the only beloved son of God who is full of grace and full of truth hear us in these things pardon their sin for we ask you this for Christ's sake alone amen let us further sing hymn 979 to choose Malcolm 369 Jesus those happy souls who hunger for his righteousness who seek the smiles on his face and thirst for fresh supplies of grace they cannot hear contented live on all the dainties earth can give their souls can feast on nothing less than [20:32] Christ's eternal righteousness name oh ohongsском a whose happy soul comes in, who will argue for his righteousness, who's deep as smiling from his face, when his own grace한 Condemnance of grace, may find an olabilir oplynn in a blabber, [21:52] On the world in this world can hear Then shall there be some of the rest And Christ's eternal righteousness Son's great old age may have made And love my worldly rich neighbor Will lay the joyous le здесь [22:58] Where shall their souls be ever called? [23:11] Love is a bliss, socialency, Here I will go, Lord, and bless all day. [23:34] Let the night of Jesus live, which shall live, and come for me. [23:55] Live, wave, and live, my soul shall rise. [24:08] Give up and thank me the skies. [24:20] I shall take the heavenly soul and live and sing forevermore. [24:42] As the Lord may be pleased to help me, I will be very directly carefully to the Gospel according to Luke chapter 6. [24:54] I'm reading verse 21. Blessed are ye that hunger now, for ye shall be filled. [25:06] Blessed are ye that we now, for ye shall laugh. We do need to take heed of the voice of the Lord, as it's through his word, but we must not steal it as a thief or a robber and come up some other way. [25:27] The blessings of the Gospel are a great privilege to believers. We have to often say, why was I made to hear his voice? [25:41] And the voice will be real. And the voice will make you tremble. And the voice will make you to see grace to be still. [25:54] And see the Lord to give you divine instruction and teaching the way that he will have you to go. It isn't just hearing a voice. Through his word. [26:07] It's having it fulfilled. Their steps must be ordered by the Lord. And there'll be evidences. And you'll meditate upon what the Lord has revealed to you in his word. [26:23] You see, there's something in the world that is so simple and yet it's the flesh. It's the flesh. [26:34] He says, it tells you, he that believes in it shall not perish. He tells you and me, God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son. [26:49] The person who believed in him should not perish. He should have everlasting life. But if you steal these promises, they will not bear fruit in your soul and mind. [27:03] And this is an anxious thing that concerns any son or daughter of God by blessed adoption. Lord, I want reality. [27:15] I don't want somebody to tell me I'm saved before I'm lost. I don't want somebody to say, oh, you've only got to read the word and believe it. [27:28] It's only printed on paper in the Bible. We value the Bible if it's been made a blessing to us. Whenever you know, you'll realize you're poverty-stricken. [27:44] You'll realize you're poor and you're needy for the Lord to reveal to you and me these precious promises. For the yea and amen in Christ Jesus. [27:55] You see, we read here very plainly, He that heareth and doeth not is like a man without a foundation, filled a house upon the earth. [28:08] No foundation, the house was full. But when the stream vehemently against it fell, and the ruin of the house was great. [28:20] So it is with a believer. But we've got to have evidences. We've got to dig deep. We've got to truly seek the Lord to confirm ourselves with the eye of our understanding, to understand the scripture. [28:41] And so, only the Lord can give you a hunger. Only the Lord can give you a curse of righteousness. Only the Lord can awaken you from your dead works. [28:54] And your dead faith. Jesus is the author. And there must be evidences where the Lord has authorized your faith. In other words, he's spoken to you. [29:07] And you may get to tremble too. So don't they say, that suits me, that word, to be hungry. Know, it will be an evidence in your soul, that the Lord has stopped you in your magicka rear. [29:25] Brought you out of the world. Into the kingdom of his dear son. And still, they cannot say, or read your title clear to these heavenly mansions. [29:37] And this sin is love and mercy. Grant you to feel that is the object of your soul's desire. [29:50] Jesus, crucified. And you'll be crucified in the world. And though the old man of sin still hangs upon these worldly things. [30:02] And we realize so often that very few and far between are the real blessings of the gospel. that are revealed to you and me. That you'll take hold. The truth is burnt into your very soul. [30:15] That you want to feed upon fat things. Upon wine. Upon the leaves. Well refined. That you might feel I am persuaded. That I know the truth. [30:28] Because Lord, thou didst it. Thou wilt waken me. Thou wilt remove the scars of my eyes. Thou wilt unblock my deaf ears. Thou wilt open my heart. [30:39] That his saying might sink down deep into my very soul. And then have a lasting effect. Although they get declared at times by the enemy of their souls. [30:52] And you know where there's a blessing. The enemy won't be far behind. And so we have to prove. And we have to pray, Lord, search me, and know my heart. [31:03] Try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there's any wicked way in me. And lead me away to last me. Because I might know something of being fed. [31:13] But he asserts you. He'll trouble you. And he said, let not your heart be troubled. And he applies that word. [31:26] And he said, be still and know that I am God. And so there's a proving of all things. There's holding a fast of those things that are good. And there will be a little of this good treasure in your heart if the Lord supplied it. [31:44] You won't have a false foundation like this man that built his house upon the earth. No, you'll be building it upon the rock. Christ is that solid rock. [31:57] Blessed be his holy name. And all we are due to praise unto him for his great goodness in our lives. If so be, you've got concrete evidences that you've been born of God. [32:15] And for the most people I believe that are true believers haven't really got that sure foundation they want to hope they'll be building upon. Building upon nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. [32:30] Dare not trust the sweetest crying of the holy name on Jesus' name. And so we bless the Lord for these mercies. And we bless him that some of us are persuaded that we've had a hunger. [32:46] We come prayerfully in our hearts with a desire to know him and to have more evidences that he has revealed his love to us. We'll have a testimony. [32:58] testimony of that awakening us from the dead, quickening us by his spirit and giving us that desire. [33:08] we've sung this afternoon those feeble desires, those wishes so weak as Jesus inspires and bids us still see. [33:22] What a mercy if we can come to the language of that in-right. That's a beginning, that's a start, will you? And what a mercy if we feel that way. because as you and I journey on through the wilderness there'll be those four desires, there'll be that meditating upon him in thought in the word and you trust in due time indeed. [33:51] Those indeed blessings when the Lord so favours you with those crumbs and this table and also those sips and the wells of salvation where he says ye shall be filled. [34:07] This is a remarkable piece really, isn't it? Blessed are you that hunger now not being fulfilled but ye shall be filled. [34:19] This is the shell of the worlds of Jehovah where he says as ye weep now ye shall be loved. this is the blessing you have seen when the Lord smiles upon you and you feel that you can smile upon him as his love reflects from you back at him because you love the Lord because he has heard your voice and your supplication. [34:53] You persuade him that you have that union and communion with him from what the mercy see. Ye shall be filled. Oh, what a blessed promise this is to such souls as you and what you like who seem to be so far removed at times from the last lesson and are still going to come again and touch your heart and turn from your soul as he said with signs following the preaching of this glorious gospel. [35:28] The verse said earlier that prayer is not for you it's free and sovereign grace and by grace that you say through faith and not of yourselves as in the gift of God not of works as in the mention those but his faith which work it by love he works in your heart and my heart those who will and do his good pleasure and you bless the Lord for these ever-in-seeds and he says as he says all that the Father gives me shall come that's waiting for you and me to weep and waiting for you and me to be filled and to make and waiting for you and me for him to smile upon you smile upon the sacred pages of these words when he illuminates a portion of scripture and you can lay claim to that word Lord thou didst it thou tooken me thou made a cry to mercy thou brought me back to Zion thou brought me back to the [36:37] Bible and it's been my meat and my drink ever since although a very forgetful reader hearer and hearer yet through the grace of God you've been enabled to truly feel that the Lord has filled you you've gone on your way rejoicing with that peace of God that peace of God which is so difficult to describe when he showers down a blessing upon yourself when he melts you down when you look on and feel God's goodness that he's called to pass before you mean the way yet still you need more because none can keep alive their own soul never will do you might boast and hold yourself for what he's done but you know if you're a true believer you'll have nothing to boast of but you'll bless and praise God for his great goodness that he has caused the path before you in the way so bless the Lord if you cannot be young get the young hungry thirsty and weep them that he might wipe the eyes from off your face as he will push you one of his chosen vessels and you'll have that upon an entrance of ass into his everlasting kingdom and yes you'll find the enemies as we touched on this morning but nevertheless you're asking a balancing of the faith and the [38:20] Lord will bless you you'll know what it is to say I'm poor and needy yet persuasion the Lord thinketh upon me he says I know the thoughts and I think towards me thoughts of peace are not of evil to give you an expected end though we know we've got an expected end but will it be in the right direction we're in the right direction are you looking toward heaven or will you understatedly find yourself in heaven because in hell because your religion has been forced and you've been resting upon right doctrine we know we speak of doctrines of free and sovereign right but do you and I know the dreadful state of mankind all deserving and endless power all each and every one of us born in sin shaken iniquitous if we live and die that condition we should perish in our sins but through [39:38] God's mercy through God's mercy we'll be made to be taught we'll be made to feel the poverty and yet you'll break me Lord I know I am in need of thy blessing of bringing my soul out of prison but I might praise thee because you'll be captive so easily by the devil and his agents in this present world after the mercy of God you've been taught to trust the Lord for the sake of it to be your refuge and your strength to be a very present help in your trouble therefore will not be fear and to be able to rejoice in that day that the Lord has granted you that he's wanted a fair place for you and will come again and receive you unto himself that where he is you and [40:38] I shall dwell for heaven but we need that hope we need that confirmation we need that blessing of the Lord to enrich our soul not what you learn in the scriptures it's what the Lord has applied the evidence of his word gives light understanding for the simple and it will keep you simple you won't be full of self righteousness and pride you'll be humble the Lord will touch you up it will humble you why me why me you must rather lie in hell we're not salvation free we know it's free we know it's sovereign grace but it's God's sovereign will to save his people from their sin and so won't we value the gift of repentance won't we value it there's room for it repent and believe in me who can change his heart [41:47] God alone can change your heart and hear your will and return your feet and mine to Zion's hill with a hunger something real something that's satisfied the just demands of your soul Jesus reveal thyself to me speak peace and heart of me sanctify my soul tell me with my own lips that those love me not with you and me stealing from the word of God speak with my own lips tell me what I'm in need of the spoken to of that I'm born of God and that my treasure hold fast to the form of these sound words nothing you can to bring nothing acceptable in your flesh and mine in the sight of God but it's in that newborn soul nothing in my hand [42:49] I bring simply to thy cross I clean naked come to leave address our life to the fountain fly wash me saviour or I die we need that plunge him beneath that fountain of his shed blood precious blood precious blood that cleanses them all soon which is what you hunger for you want to bear witness in yourself that you will be with Jesus united to Christ the true living God flourishing in their truth in the courts of the Lord these are the blessed characters these are the blessed characters does it give you a spirit of meekness does it give you a spirit of humility nothing in your hand to bring but everything to receive of the love of God which is free and fixed on his own eternally you can't change the will of [43:50] God what is appointed in your life and mine will come to pass but if by the grace of God you'll be brought into his bank between those and he'll give you a true token it is the blessed gospel the good news of salvation and applied to your heart and mine it will come for you he said I will not leave you come for this I will come to you but it's this tarrying it's this tarrying for poor ministers this is at the waiting upon the Lord to confirm their souls is a day of small things but what is it it's not a small thing is it your sins cancelled your sins washed away beneath the blood of the precious Lord Jesus suffer blood and die for your sins and not this will humble you this will humble you dear friends that you brought for a hunger for a witness of these things that you shall be filled all to fill their cup being filled running over with the love of [45:06] Christ for having loved his own that were in the world he loved you to the end and you won't want to turn back you won't want to be left good friends for this army which is which Jesus says that even there are those that can be saved that are not in the coming what what what evil what deception there is among many other years that all the true Calvin S will know what it is that he's defiled from it the book he's born in sin and shaken in equity how can he save it how can he change it how can he order how can he believe it it is your soul the soul that can be saved the soul that was sincere desires seeks after jesus love let soul the holy ghost inspire us with breathings from death you have to say lord breathe upon my dry bones that they might lift prepare me to stand before thy face thy spirit muster what it's all of thy free and thy sovereign grace for I know this that I have nothing to bring but sin with everything to receive if I am mine with a love of [46:36] Christ because he's born the curse away from you he's brought you with the prize he's eternally loved you and he will never leave you nor forsake you once and in him forever thus the eternal covenant stands and you'll bless the lord you'll bless the lord let my soul let all within me join and aid my tongue to bless his name whose favors are divine that might be presented perfect in that great day the role of Christ's righteousness covers all our sins all our faults all our backslidings every sin that you've committed and sin that you omitted yes yes such is the love of Christ which is so rich and so free but he said without me you can do nothing you're guilty you're helpless without him telling you that he intervened for your side that he has fleed with the father that the blood that he shed on Calvary's tree has cleansed you and me from all their sin theirs is security born in sin shaken in in in sin did my mother conceive me but blessed be the [48:11] Lord I have paid the price that is due to redeem me from the curse of the Lord and he says fear not I redeem me I call thee by thy name thou art mine oh a precious jewel to be made up one day in heaven does this suit your soul of heart I do hope that we know something of this by experience to poverty and yet he is able to give you those jewel which is his solid joys this lasting peace that peace that he has afforded for sinners by shedding his blood on cabbage tree bless him Jesus what a mercy if we can feel a little united to him having hungered having wept having borne over her sin and laughed at him and blessed be the [49:12] Lord he comes back and said I have chosen thee in the purpose of affliction and you know what afflictions are afflicted dispensation all these things near us and all these things are sanctified for good for them love God to those I behold appoint his purpose and you will be mindful of your need of the blood of Christ the blood of Christ to cleanse you and so blessed are you of hunger may we know this hunger may we give him no rest until he establishes us a praise in the earth for the vile that you and I are prepared to stand before his face spirit must have worked before his all of his free and sovereign grace to be unable to feel you have a little of this treasure in the wrath and best of excellence of power may be of [50:18] God and other God what a saviour and what a mercy it is he saves unto the uttermost all those that come to God by him so this is the blessing as I said this morning first is everyone that continues to do the things that they contain their in blessing Jesus if he has touched your heart you are at times filled what a favoured child I am but I'm not worthy of it I'm not worthy of his blessing but you have to say take not those food from the Lord or granted I might feel more and more to be in the spirit especially in the Lord's God to remember the Sabbath and give him grace to keep it open and my ear bore to the doorpost to hear God what God will speak unto me and turn on again to [51:22] Father we're so full of folly in nature when the Lord gives you that grace of humility he will humble you before mighty time that you might be exalted in due time casting all your care upon him for he care for you the way we need this real religion then to dig deep search the scripture for him he think he had eternal life he told the Jews he heard his speech against him he didn't he think he had he won't more than think he was thinking rightly Christ is he your prophet is he your priest is he your king what think he of Christ and so in then he think he of eternal life that you desire will put up that [52:25] I may know him the power of his resurrection the fellowship of his suffering and be made conformable unto his death what a savior and what a mercy if you have a bit of hope built upon nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness your weight upon the Lord your look for him to instruct you and teach you in the way and how you to go nothing else can satisfy a believer who's called by grace nothing else can satisfy give me Christ or else I die or we have the other side for us we know that and the burden will it and all what a refuge the gospel makes known to his marriage of Jesus alone and we bless and praise him that we trust that they're not mistaken he's given us a hunger he's given us a time of weeping weeping that you shall be filled for you shall laugh oh it won't be laughing dear friends like the world's full of laughter and cackling and all they think about is laughing but this dear friend is in a sense smiling at the [53:50] Lord time to a time dear friends to love and the time to feel the peace of God the past of the ones of understanding yes you sow in tears which you'll reap in joy when the Lord smiles into your sorrow and blesses you with an evidence you're born of God ye I have loved me when everlasting love therefore with loving kindness have I warmed him blessed Jesus that I see the timeless God we must leave it there my Lord we give all of this and bless his own word take us each home in peace and safety meditate upon the fullness that resides in Jesus our name never advised to answer me amen let us conclude with in 1112 between and his sax 409 blessed are the humble souls that see their emptiness and poverty treasures of grace to them are given and plans of joy laid up in heaven blessed are the men of broken heart who mourn for sin but inward slant the blood of Christ divine is close the healing bar for all their ways 1112
