[0:00] The Lord may be pleased to help us. We will turn to Psalm 61 and verse 2. The 61st Psalm and the 2nd verse.
[0:18] But from the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, where my heart is overwhelmed, neither the rock is higher than I. The 61st Psalm and the 2nd verse.
[0:33] From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, where my heart is overwhelmed, neither the rock is higher than I.
[0:46] God, squeeze these words in the heart of the dear Psalmist, not by any easy means. That penned in God's infinite wisdom for the encouragement and strength of portent and tried souls, through all their time to his eternal glory.
[1:07] We are not given any account of what he is passing through. Whatever it was, it was some deep trial laid upon him, brought to the end of the earth, near soul's feelings.
[1:21] Which means he had nowhere to go to in the natural resources, which are good and commendable in their place, but in his present circumstances as nowhere upon earth could help him.
[1:36] And so it was God's wisdom to bring in. That when only place of refuge and comfort for his poor troubled soul is the Redeemer in heaven. He could still say in Psalm 130, the forgiveness with thee, that I mayest be feared.
[1:55] He could still write the Psalm, trust in him at all times ye people. And these Psalms not written, my friends, as a schoolboy learns his task.
[2:07] They're written by solemn, the size of mind, for the God whom he worshipped. The Psalmist had no understanding, probably, he was writing the word of God.
[2:22] These were the expressions of a needy soul. It came from the very depth of his heart before a God whom he worshipped. And so is he, hear my cry, O God.
[2:36] True prayers will need answer. I want to wipe our prayers for the Lord. It's not as they sound to our fellow creatures. They are waiting upon the Lord, dear friends, in our prayers.
[2:51] Which will look in beyond all human things. Which will look in the one in heaven. God's own eternal Son, omnipotent, all glorious. That one you're singing of, the right hand of God in heaven.
[3:09] Make intercession for poor sinners like you and me. That's where true prayer goes, my dear friends. That's where true faith leads a poor trembling sinner.
[3:24] This same Jesus, alone can save us. Went through the clouds and eternal glory. Was sending his own precious blood.
[3:39] For the throne of heaven above. To intercede. The poor sinners like we are. Helpless. Ruined undone. Yet, with a refuge of the Lord.
[3:51] He speaks for wrong. There's harm and evil. He speaks of one he can always go to. Who was greater. His greatest trouble and trouble.
[4:04] He can look to one. Above his sins. His failures and difficulties. He was so pleased for mercy. And that mercy, he said, endures forever.
[4:16] He said, Lord is good, he said, because his mercy endures. So all that, and the dear psalmist, wanderings. All his sins. All his sins. All his sins. All his transgressions.
[4:27] All his times when he fell sometimes. In temptation. Fears. The Lord never turned away from him. He said, Lord. He said, Lord. He said, Lord. He said, Lord. He said, Lord.
[4:38] But he tried him. Many, many times. Severely. That dear man spent. A long time. At one time. Waiting upon the Lord.
[4:49] So that he had mercy. Some people speak of mercy. Very glibly, you know. In man's wisdom. Spirituality. But you know, my dear friends.
[5:00] That mercy from God through Calvary. Has to be waited for. Many a sigh. Many a groan. And tear goes up to heaven. We may obtain mercy.
[5:12] For you never done so. You may realize. To your heart. The psalmist did. He was a waiting soul.
[5:24] As he had a servant. Upon the hand of his master. As he was made. Upon the hand of a mister. Our eyes wait. Upon the Lord. Our God. Till he had mercy upon us. And so he felt.
[5:35] He needed it friend. He hadn't got it. He needed it. And my friend. What a mercy. Did we feel. We're happy. We can't claim these things.
[5:46] You know. To ourselves. But all is blessedly given to us. Isn't it? For the spirit of God. To be divinely encouraged. And drawn.
[5:57] At one only fountain. Of hope and comfort. From heaven. The saviour's precious. Redeeming love. The God of Abel. And Abel.
[6:08] Worshiped the lamb. To come and redeem him. Cain. Cain could look upon. All the natural blessings. God gave to him. Which were good and proper. In their place.
[6:19] They couldn't take away. Sin. And Cain didn't understand. He was a sinner. Before God. But my friends. A sinner is a sacred thing.
[6:32] The Holy Ghost. Doesn't make sinners. When he makes sensible sinners. He wakes the poor soul. In the depth. Of the form. Makes the poor soul. Realize.
[6:42] What they are. Before a holy God. The cry of the dear Hezekiah. For eyes are. Woe is me. I am undone. I've seen the King.
[6:53] In his beauty. One glimpse. My friends. The eternal majesty. Three persons. In glorious unity. And trinity. Will make us feel like gold.
[7:04] The eyes are. To see the King. In his beauty. That day. We could see the King. In his beauty. Almighty. To say. To the uttermost.
[7:16] All the kind of God. By him. And so. This psalm. Opens up. The solemn expression. From the end.
[7:27] Of the earth. Was born again. The Holy Spirit. First brought. Into a solemn concern. Regarding eternity. They brought to realize.
[7:38] The end of the earth. They brought to realize. They are not here. For all. They must meet. A holy God. That him. Begins in their hearts.
[7:48] To tell. They will stand the case. My soul. With thee. And what their fellow. Crees are doing. May concern them. Prayerfully. Because their own souls. Are concerned about. From the end.
[8:00] Of the earth. How shall I meet. A holy God. Who will stand. Between my soul. And that great deity. Of holy purity.
[8:11] And glory. For whom the angels. Follow their faces. And cry holy. Holy. Holy. Lord God almighty. Where can a poor. Help the sinner. Stand.
[8:22] For that glory. That no man. To approach unto. God. God. But my dear friends. Are blessed. Why? God made. His own. Dear son. From heaven.
[8:33] God's only begotten son. Came down. Glory to God. In the highest. On earth. Peace. God's will. Sword man. It is his divine. Pleasure from heaven.
[8:44] He delighted. In mercy. To poor sinners. And so. They realize. They have to come. From the end. Of the rest. To meet. Before a holy God.
[8:56] Is no strange experience. With. A sinner. Unregenerate. To meet a holy God. Is a very solemn. Awaken. And surprised.
[9:08] All eternity. There can. Poor. Ruined. Undone. Fish. Stand. Before. The deity. But my.
[9:22] Fairness. To a. Quickened soul. That filled. Their name. In Psalm 72. David. Had a wonderful view. Of the Lord. Jesus Christ.
[9:32] The sinner's friend. He's speaking. Of Solomon. Great Solomon. Is there. You read the psalm. Very carefully. You see. In more than one instance.
[9:43] You can only be. A great. Than Solomon. Because Solomon. Didn't live for always. Solomon. Wasn't always. Perfect. And righteous. No. Solomon. Was a sinner.
[9:54] And happily. In the word of God. It is recorded. But you see. The great. And Solomon. Was there. All kings. Shall fall down. Before him. To all generations.
[10:10] And why. To deliver the needy. When he cried. A poor. A poor. A poor. A lispy soul. Crying. For God's mercy. Is from all the kings.
[10:21] Of the earth. For that glorious. King of kings. The Lord of lords. In heaven. That all kings. To bow down. Before him. To deliver needy.
[10:34] When he cries. Have you been a needy soul. My dear friends. Seeking God's mercy. Have you been a poor. Helpless soul. Your niece.
[10:44] Some secret place. Same with the dear public. And God. Be merciful to me. God would hear that cry. My dear friends. This feels.
[10:57] The intent. I believe. The witness. This poor sinner. Had to bow down. In those fields. In his teens. And cry out. For God's mercy.
[11:09] I look at them. I go by now. Sometimes. Remember. The bitter times. Of anguish. Crying out. For God's mercy. The poor.
[11:19] Guilty. Sinner. Lost. And ruined. Ah. Friends. God loves to hear. The beggar's heart. And so. The wonderful glory.
[11:29] Of the king is. Not their glory. But he should. Deliver the needy. When he cries. My friends. Cry is life. The first answer.
[11:40] Of life. In a babe. Is the cry. That makes the heart. The mother. And father. Gladden. What a welcome noise. It is. To hear. The babe cry.
[11:53] So. They must explain. What they need. What they're trying to tell us. And when they explain it. All to us. Then. We do something about it. Now. The parent. My friend. Goes to the babe.
[12:03] And looks to the babe. Yes. And the babe. Is given what it requires. Because. It's got wonderful. Worse in their nature. How much more so. Spiritual friends.
[12:17] A living cry. Life divine. That life. Can never. Ever die. Satan. Can't touch it. It cause havoc.
[12:27] In our lives. In our lives. Sometimes. If God. Commit. God would only do it. For our good. And his glory. What's so with Job. I've got no time. To preach. Thanks to sermons.
[12:39] On Satan. Because. That's doing it. Glory to God. If God's not in control. We leave him. With the Lord. In heaven. But. Job.
[12:51] Worshiped God. He didn't charge. God foolishly. With weakness. Didn't say. God. Now. Has lost control. Of my life. Lost havoc.
[13:03] Has come. And poor Job's life. He's lost his. Family. He's lost his. His flocks. He's lost his herd. He's lost his reputation. Lost everything. But Job.
[13:14] Worshiped God. Because he realized. Blessed be the name. Of the Lord. There's one omnipotent. In heaven. Of glory.
[13:24] But not lost control. With dear old Job. But he lived to prove. That blessed he was. And redeemed. All the Lord. And so.
[13:35] The Lord hasn't lost control. Dear friends. But he hears. That cry. Of poor awakened sinner. At the end of the earth. Trembling.
[13:47] At the prospect. Of that solemn change. That's taken place. Each one. To meet a holy God. The spirit shall return.
[13:59] Under God. To unite him. There's no way around it. No diversity. That word must be fulfilled. That word must be fulfilled.
[14:10] Preacher first. And then people. All must come of that solemn song. The spirit shall return. Not our flesh. No.
[14:20] Our spirit. Our innermost being. The soul. It must return to God. Who gave it. But my friend. What hope have we.
[14:32] In our confidence. Our wisdom. Our doings. Our workings. No more than kind. He brought God's gifts to him.
[14:43] He said. Well that's been so good to me. All these providential matters. Oh my. Must be a good for all me. And I can worship. And those things. He's weighing the bouncer.
[14:55] And fame. Want him. He wanted godly sorrow. And our acknowledgement. His sin. Want to realize. What a sinner he was.
[15:06] Or a holy God. And Abel knew. What a sinner. He really was. His only hope. Was in Christ's blood.
[15:18] He said. God. Be merciful. Me a sinner. And so. Friend. Have we been brought. The Lamb of God. Be brought to see.
[15:28] The glory. And wonderment. And beauty. And all sufficiency. In Christ Jesus. Oh the Father. Give me. Shall come unto me.
[15:39] The Lord Jesus says. Nothing will stop them. Oh no. And him that cometh to me. He said. Only no wise cast out. There's no wisdom to cast them out.
[15:50] The enemy. They try to cast them. They may have stopped them. But. He's a conquered foe. They may feel they're unworthy.
[16:03] They shan't be cast out. The Lord Jesus said. Look through the gospels. See what. Different people came to the Lord Jesus. All their woes.
[16:14] Their sorrows. Their uncleanness. Their leprosy. Their difficulties. Even the dead. They brought the Lord Jesus. He healed everyone.
[16:25] Everyone. That need a healing. The Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus. Jesus healed the broken hearted. Oh how sweet that sound to me.
[16:38] Once beneath my sin. He smarted. Groaned and bled to set me free. He might end the sin. Dear friends. The sacrifice himself.
[16:49] Who knew no sin. No man on earth to die. Has known no sin. Was made sin. Or with a solemn transaction.
[17:01] Dear friends. Upon his holy soul. That dear holy. Calmness. Only for the Son of God. Here upon earth. That holy affectionate love.
[17:15] Could know no sin. We know what sin is. My friends. Haven't we? And what it works. In our poor lives. And what foolish things.
[17:25] We are sometimes. In warning from the Lord. Our God. But he knew no sin. It wasn't the heavenly Father. Before ever time began. Trading all things in heaven.
[17:35] And upon earth. He came down from heaven. To eternal glory. And he was made sin. The rush of God. Might be made.
[17:46] To his dear people. Through him. So it's these poor. Needy. Helpless. And guilty souls. Lord. Look down upon him. Mostly friends.
[17:58] He came to heal the sick. And not the whole. He came to call the. Poor guilty souls. Not the self-righteous. To heaven.
[18:10] He came to seek. Poor sinners out. He came to the divine purpose. That God alone could do. Friends. Anyone else could have done that. God would have spared. His own dear son. That no one else.
[18:21] Was good enough. Friends. But God's own eternal son. In our flesh. To make peace. With the holy God. And poor guilty. Lost. And ruined sins.
[18:33] The end of the earth. Friends. We have to stand. Before that holy God. And if we stand. In our own strength. In our own doings.
[18:43] Friends. We shall fall into it. With all to know. How blessed that word is. In the epistle of Hebrews. When we have the end of the earth.
[18:55] Spoken of concern. The Lord. Jesus Christ. At once. The end of the time. He offered himself a sacrifice. And to his heavenly father.
[19:06] In heaven. We see there. How. Wonderful. That. Wonderful sacrifice is. For so many. A steer people. And as appointed unto men.
[19:17] Once to die. Of this. The judgment. What a word. Friends. For the time. I really ministered. Afraid to read. That chapter.
[19:29] It is so solemn. So sacred. It is so Christ. Was once offered. To bear the sins. Of many.
[19:41] Behold. The seed. That match. This grace. It is Jesus. In a sinner's place. To bear the sins. Of many. And then.
[19:52] That look for him. She appeared. A second time. Without sin. Under salvation. Now that's the one. Who stands. Between a holy God. And poor needy sinners.
[20:04] Their soul. The eternal soul. Who please. The merits. His glorious sacrifice. Upon Calvary's cross. With all precious blood. And the heavenly.
[20:15] The heavenly corpse. Of eternal grace. To see if the people. Have passed. In heavenly. Eternal. Behold. I am the truth. Which God has given me. As a blessed.
[20:26] Prophetical truth. Toward eternity. While these. Poor souls. Then. Have to consider. The end. Of the earth. And all their right.
[20:38] Exercise of soul. Is in respect. For the end. Of the earth. The world. They have to live in. Responsibilities. Cares. Duties. Difficulties. And sometimes.
[20:48] Like the. One of old. We become. A common. About. Many. Much serving. And many things. Lawful to attend to. And we become. Combered about. A preacher.
[21:01] First of all. Is guilty of this. My friends. But when Jesus. Is there. Dear friends. There is some. More important. A mere.
[21:13] Chosen. That better. Path. Not be taken away. From her. The Lord Jesus. Said. There were times. When she was. Helping Martha. No doubt. To do all the. Viest duties. In the household.
[21:23] When Jesus. Was not there. But now. He was there. He talked to Mary. The thing to speak. Of the heavenly kingdom. When time. Was all over. And past. She was hearing.
[21:34] Things that would never. Come to an end. And so Martha. Was redeemed. Quite wonderfully. So. But don't come down. Too hard.
[21:44] On Martha. My dear friends. As some people do. If you go. The record. Of Lazarus. In the gospel. You find there. Before John. Records it.
[21:56] He says. But now. It's how things. Right before we record. What's going on. Concern this wonderful. Resurrection. Of Lazarus. He said. But now.
[22:07] Before we read anything else. In this chapter. Jesus loved Martha. And her sister. And Lazarus. All the same. No partiality.
[22:18] No hypocrisy. No. The perfect son of God. From heaven. He loved all the same. Dear friends. For all eternity. No. Reboot. The dear woman. And we need it.
[22:28] Friends. We become so encumbered. Sometimes. The responsiveness of life. That if Jesus is there. Dear friends. May we turn aside.
[22:39] Sometimes. That Holy Spirit. Prompting us. The secret prayer. So you come into your home. Sometimes. Friends. We debate your duties.
[22:51] Responsibilities. Farm and the field. The man. The business. You suddenly feel your heart moved. Graciously drawn your soul.
[23:03] Drawn you. The Lord in heaven. Don't turn away from me. Dear friends. No. He says. To call upon me. Then I trouble. I deliver thee.
[23:14] It's Jesus speaking. Friends. That's all. You know. Prompt a secret prayer. Drawn it higher. Bring them unto his dear. Glorious person in heaven.
[23:25] By faith. Avail him. That dear Peter says. Whom having not seen. We love. And Peter loved him so much. Because. He proved. How deep that love was.
[23:36] His never dying soul. The glory of that dear one in heaven. He couldn't express. His dear friend on high. Who would never ever leave.
[23:48] Who would ever forsake him. God. Well. From the end of the earth. We come to the end of the earth. Then sometimes. In our wisdom. In our strength.
[24:00] The circumstances that come upon us. Providentially. May be. The end of the earth. We don't know which way to turn. What to do. Like the apostle Paul. The perplexed.
[24:12] Cast down. And so it goes through all the catalog. In the sixth. In the chapter. The second epistle. The Corinthians. It goes through all he's going through. In his soul.
[24:23] That wonderful wise ministry was. Speak just as he felt. His soul. The end of the earth. And there he was. The end of the earth.
[24:34] His soul's feelings. We were perplexed. But not despair. Cast them. But not destroyed. And so it goes through all his feelings. And he says.
[24:45] Why? The life of Jesus. May seem no more for this. May seem that a friend on high. A savoury mortal.
[24:57] To save poor helpless. Needy souls. That draw unto him. They took knowledge of their being with Jesus. Then. There was some sight of witness in our hearts.
[25:10] Got a friend on high. What a privilege my friend it is. In all. Every condition then. From the end of the earth. We might feel ourselves to come to.
[25:23] And then he said. His heart was overwhelmed. What's with his body? No. Those disciples on the ship. The other side. There they were. They were overwhelmed.
[25:33] Their lives. They were in jeopardy. In the dark time of the night. They weren't disobedient. They weren't disobedient. You know. Oh no. They followed the command of their heavenly master.
[25:47] In the gospel of Matthew. And now. We find out. God commanded them to go over their side. They were disobedient. So they must always judge.
[25:58] Friends. When things come upon God's people. It's for some specific reason. It wasn't cast. As Job's friends. It did wrong aspersions.
[26:08] And used the truth of God wrongly. And told the truth into a lie. Be careful my friend. Of course. Should we tread. So.
[26:20] They went. Under divine command. And natural Israel's sake. And those. Those mariners. Those fishermen. Those disciples. They must get the other side. They're going to have a good voyage this time.
[26:31] Because. You see. They've been commanded to go. So natural karma faith says. Well. It must be so. Good. The Lord's told them. They're going to get the other side. They must get the other side.
[26:45] Get in the ship with them. My dear friends. Little of the night. The waves. Rising high. The wind contrary to them. And see where faith gets to.
[26:56] My dear friends. Are we any better disciples? Did our faith in it strong? Than their faith was. But why did Jesus do that friend?
[27:06] Why was he? To reveal them his glorious cross. For their hearts to say truly. Thou art thee son of God.
[27:18] The winds and waves obey thee. Almighty power and that voice. The souls of his dear people. And my friend. What's your trouble about poor soul? How does he use it poor sinner?
[27:32] To make you realize. You've got a friend or not. Where to come. See so easy. In all matters friend. He wouldn't know. Would you understand? Your mighty power is to save your soul.
[27:46] To all eternity. Say this poor man. This poor woman cried. And the Lord heard them. And delivered them. Now if you say that friends.
[27:58] He said. It is all. Yes. The winds and waves in his control. It is all. It may be dark.
[28:09] The deep unfathomable beneath them. It is all. Yes. He said. Be not afraid. The disciples said. Why no Lord. If it be thou a token.
[28:20] No Lord. I walk on the waves as thou dost. Lord. There's given me a command to do so. And Jesus doesn't turn down a poor soul.
[28:31] Seeking a token for good. You know friends. In the step you're taking. And so Peter got down the ship. He walked on the water. Go to Jesus. He could do as Jesus.
[28:42] With friends. Looking unto him. He literally walked upon those waves and billows. And his dear Redeemer was coming to him. You say.
[28:53] Well he sank. What did he sink? He looked upon the waves and billows. What do we do friends. In our troubles. We look upon all that's done. The circumstances. The circumstances.
[29:04] In the Lord's hand. And we weigh them all up. We start sinking in our soul's feelings. And going down deeper and deeper and deeper. But what happened friends. He cried out.
[29:16] He prayed friends. He cried. He said Lord save me. And Jesus stretched forth his hand. And he caught him friends. He didn't just save him. He secured him.
[29:27] According to the original. He could never ever ever sink. None shall pluck thee. From the strength of Israel's hands. What blessed words my friends.
[29:40] These poor troubled hearts. None shall pluck them. From his hands. For given unto me eternal life. He said. None shall pluck them.
[29:50] From my hands. Well friend. It's not your strength. For a saviour. My dear friend. And the pill. It's his strength. For a saviour friend. What does his strength say?
[30:01] He can save the uttermost. All that come unto God. By him. For a few selected people. No. Every poor. Trembling. Helpless soul. Given life to pray.
[30:11] For his heavenly majesty. His aim. Well you may say to me tonight. Well. In my heart. I feel. There's something that. Is past the Lord's dealings then.
[30:23] You've got an uttermost case then. Impossibility. And so disciples saw that man go away. A lawyer from the Lord Jesus. And the Lord Jesus loved him.
[30:36] He thought he kept all those laws. He kept. He's got no guilt on him at all. There he was. Completely thoughtless. He told the Lord himself.
[30:49] He kept all those from his youth up. There he was. And Jesus looked right in his heart. Friendly. Saw there an idol. He looks right in our hearts. Friendly.
[30:59] He can touch and hide in a moment. He said. No. Go and sell all that thou hast. And come. Follow me. He turned his back on. Jesus. He got an idol.
[31:11] He was very rich. He was very sorry. And Jesus loved him. Friendly. And I'm very sure that same man came back. A guilty sinner before a holy God.
[31:24] And God has mercy upon his soul. Because Jesus never loved a person. And lost him. It can't be sad. The poor disciples. They looked within. Their poor lives.
[31:36] And they said. Lord. Who then can be sad? What hope have we got? Who then can be sad? And then the world was spoken.
[31:49] The things. That are possible with men. Are possible. With God. With God. All things.
[32:00] Are possible. So Martha said. The Lord Jesus. With Lazarus in the grave. So even now Lord. The faith of God's elect.
[32:12] The soul of the poor. Tremlins. To see. The glory and beauty. That great rock. The poor sinner. Go to. As hard. All their troubles. Their sorrows. Their fears. Grace.
[32:22] And all their understanding. Dear friends. The coming to a king. Large petitions. With thee bring. For his grace. And power. Are such. None.
[32:33] Have asked too much. With my heart. So well. Then. Heart of love. Heart of tender fear. Heart of obedience.
[32:45] Yes. All that goes on within. Your friends. So be. Overwhelmed. What you're passing through it. Maybe. Yes. Lead me. Lead me. All your troubles.
[33:04] All your troubles. Your fears. Your sins. No. No. Open your hearts. You may feel. The leading. Of the gracious spirit. Of God. In your spirit.
[33:15] To lead. You know. All your troubles. Your fears. Your sins. No. Necessities. This great rock. In our text. Unbelievable. Believe.
[33:27] With the rocks. Heart of the night. Lord. A blessed place. Reaches. Nothing. Impossible. With him. And so.
[33:38] It's a rock. First of all. And the rocks. Is movable. This rock. Has been proved. Now. For. As long. As. The world.
[33:48] Has been. Existence. Abel. Proved it. Noah. Proved it. Abraham. Proved it. Jacob. Proved it. Isaac.
[33:59] Proved it. Yes. And Jacob. Jacob. So. Jacob's. Sons. Proved it. Now. Some sinners. Some of them. Weren't they? You read the catalogue.
[34:09] Of Jacob's. Sons. Not very commendable. Really. And Jacob. Says. My soul. Not into their secret. There's cruelty. Their habitations.
[34:22] The Lord. Says. Concern. The Jacob's. Sons. On the Lord. I change not. Therefore. Son of Jacob. Not consumed. You'll save my dear friends. Those dear people. The rocks.
[34:34] Hard. Very well. Couldn't be shaken. Or moved. Still there. Go to the David. Samuel. David. The prophets. Solomon. All the prophets.
[34:45] You go right the way through the Old Testament. Things concerning Jesus. On road. In last. Goes. The gospel. Dies. The rock. Still stands. Friend. Never shaken.
[34:55] Never to be moved. Apostolic times. The two. Apostles. In the prison house. The prison was shaken.
[35:07] The rock. Never moved. Friends. And dear Paul. Sing praise. In the prison house. In the midnight hour. And the prisoners. Heard them. Why? The rock.
[35:17] Hadn't moved. Friends. For the prison. Moved. You know. The great earthquake. The jailer's heart. Moved too. He began to quake.
[35:27] And to tremble. God's time appointed. Not proud. But call. But grace. That poor dear man. He cried. What shall we do? To be saved? So what they say to the poor man.
[35:39] Well you deserve all you get. You've lashed our backs. Put our feet in the stocks. You die tomorrow. No.
[35:52] He said. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. And they shall be saved. The love of Christ is rich and free. Fixed on his own eternum.
[36:03] Ah. That love can never be overcome. Dear friends. The poor sinners like you. And so. They were saved.
[36:14] And the rock. Didn't move. Was still there. I go through all the apostles. Lives. Because think of them tonight. Couldn't I? Those had come after.
[36:26] The times of persecution. Reformation. The rock never moved. Friends did it. A trite stone. A precious corner stone. An elect and precious.
[36:38] It never moved. Dear friends. There would have been a sign. All our forefathers. They'd taken the stake. And burned them. The rock didn't move. Gave an entrance into eternal glory.
[36:53] And so they'd go on. You know. And down which we live. The rock doesn't move. Friends. I look back on my own little life here.
[37:04] For years. I started out. In the ministry. A poor and worthy servant. I know. The deacon said to me.
[37:15] As I was going up the aisle. After the service. He said. If you remind me of the hemispos. Then I told the sinner. If I am. Well dear Savior. I have found. I point to his redeeming blood.
[37:26] And say. Behold. The way to God. I said. That's just what I'm feeling. I feel the same now. This evening. I have found. Precious Jesus.
[37:37] Friend of sinners. We are such that he's drawn near. Let thy spirit know. It will in us. Ah. What a friend. He is.
[37:47] Friend. A poor and healthy sinner. He shall never leave thee. Nor forsake thee. He's assigned to all eternity. Assigned yesterday.
[37:57] And today. And forever. In a changeable world. Changeable friends. Some are taken from us. Whom we love. And walk with. But the Lord still remains. But thou remains.
[38:10] Thou you shall have no end. The psalmist said. The rock. Immovable. Eternal. Upon this rock. Will I build my church.
[38:22] In 1997. Jesus. Let all be placed. And found their faith and hope. With one glorious person. In heaven. God.
[38:33] God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God.
[38:43] God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God. God.
[38:54] God. God. God.
[39:04] God. God. God. God. God. God. God. through Jesus Christ as a serious friend. You look in the word of God sometimes playing it through Jesus.
[39:19] Another little piece written about in the stone he delves, the cheering words, it really touched my heart. To love those pieces, he found the word of God that was Jesus speaking to him.
[39:32] And you know, those precious promises, those precepts, those instructions, that wisdom, from heaven to your never dying soul, the lamp to your feet and light your path in this wilderness.
[39:49] That rock of his word will never, ever move. And so the Lord Jesus said, the wise man built his house upon a rock. I suppose the house would play the same as the other one, otherwise.
[40:03] But different it was in the foundation work. Now hope for heaven, friends, don't depend on the efforts appearances, and yet so I shall than what our heart is before God.
[40:19] And so did Paul says, I know whom I believe. He believed James, he believed John, he believed Peter, I'm sure I didn't know Andrew.
[40:31] They weren't hard with him, or so. That poor sinner as he was. So though he believed them, may we always try and speak the truth that grace has given to us.
[40:43] But, oh, to compare with Christ all beside him, they've come, let's not see. And so, of course, I know whom I believed.
[40:57] And I'm persuaded that he is able, that nobody else can do it. He said, he can hold in heaven's eternal glory, that seal to my never-dying soul, his gracious word of God, and that can then be over to undone or over to me.
[41:15] That was Paul's God, Paul's Savior, Paul's reign. He said, I know whom I have believed. He said, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
[41:28] And we come to the heart and the blood of my name. Well, that's a rock then, dear friends. And then, secondly, to be led this higher than we are.
[41:41] Your troubles, your griefs, your sins, your perplexities, your difficulties, the impossibilities of your soul, you feel so weak and helped as sometimes may be. You can't confront the world may be and the things that Thomas says are too much for you.
[41:57] You feel an insufficiency in your poor, never dying soul. There is one heart and you are a poor sinner. On all your troubles, your fears, your weaknesses, your difficulties, and all our foolishness, friends.
[42:14] What is our wisdom before God's foolishness? What is God's wisdom, friends? Is foolishness great, the wisdom? man. The God that pawns you.
[42:29] And so, friends, the wisdom coming down from heaven that's first pure, then peaceable, full of all goodness, without partiality, without hypocrisy.
[42:45] And who is that, friends? the spirit of Jesus in the heart of the poor, do you lack wisdom, my dear friends? There's no sufficiency in Jesus.
[42:59] He's made unto us wisdom, dear friends, but not ourselves, the boast of the rest on heaven. We've come short in so many different things. But he's made unto us wisdom.
[43:11] He lived in the room and said, all his dear people here upon earth. He performed all his heavenly fathers, divine requirements, God, the law, the testimony, and precepts too.
[43:25] He's our righteousness. He's made unto us wisdom. Not that man become very wise in that sense, no. But friend, they find their resting place, that dearly demon shall have a great rock and a weary man.
[43:44] Oh, he's made unto you wisdom, my dear friends. You'll never die in the soul. I'll tell you how you feel. If ever my poor soul be saved, his Christ must be the way.
[43:57] He must be, dear friends. And you feel it in your very soul's innermost feeling because you're sheltered in that wonderful heart that's hard you up in righteousness, in wisdom, in Christ.
[44:13] He's far than we are, friends, not only in wisdom, but all his heart and his eternal purposes. Man speaks, man proposes, but God disposes.
[44:26] The eternal thought moves on his undisturbed affairs. We disturb the disciples on the Sea of Galilee as much we call to be disturbed. So many things come around us sometimes.
[44:41] But, what is it? The Lord never disturb. Nothing will ever disturb me. Divine omnipotence, immutability, and glory overshows all defense and all of his gift.
[44:55] The Lord is their shepherd. They shall not want. So the psalmist himself knew what a beating glory was that they are shepherd in heaven.
[45:07] He said, the Lord is my shepherd. Now as I close today, friends, that's my prayer for you in the sanctuary here. You all concern your sanctuary here. May God bless you and prosper you and be with you.
[45:20] But when you see all those things coming to pass, you may say, the Lord is my shepherd. Not just a little word, friends, with no meaning, but all the lovely word is.
[45:33] It's a beautiful word. I can't live off meditating on. It's your sufficiency and unchanging redeeming. It's your sufficient Jesus in wisdom, strength, and power calling to us the Lord is my shepherd.
[45:50] Not was only or shall be. We hope it will be so. He says, He is an ever-present friend. What a lovely word it is, friends.
[46:01] I've got a text in front of that chapel now. I can't take it down yet. I put it up for a month or some time back. Well, troubles came upon our nation and other things came upon us all around us.
[46:15] God is our refuge and strength. I look at it. and you know I believe that poor feeble hearted song will prove that God is a very present help and may be some sanctuary to hear your cries and your prayers.
[46:37] You were heartless to say time and time again, the Lord hath done great things for us. For I be glad to live. Amen.
