First 17 minutes only
[0:00] ...thankful, and worse than that, you've been with family. If you have neither a man has had, and he isn't very powerful of you, and yet the goodness of the Lord in you is like a stream.
[0:16] The good share. The good share. You can't emphasize that little word, good, too much in that connection.
[0:28] I am the good shepherd. He's been speaking of the false ones. Those who climb up some other way, where we have the sheep's wool in view, not the sheep's benefit.
[0:49] I am not that. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives him his life.
[1:00] The sheep. Could he do more? He couldn't. He couldn't do more, unless he wouldn't. And he is in a good position.
[1:13] He never turned a case away. And he never will. No, there's no case that is beyond his prescription, and his ability, and his love.
[1:26] Oh, you may say mine's a bad. A shocking case, of course it is. And it's more bad and shocking than you and I know of yet. Ah, you think you know yourself?
[1:39] You and I don't. Not yet. I doubt if we ever will, while we're here. No. Not that we really are.
[1:51] In the sight of God, how can you and I see ourselves exactly as we are? We haven't been pugilists.
[2:04] But God sees us. That's the best God. God sees us just as we are, and says, Your case I'm hearing.
[2:17] You'll be a famous man, and boy, if you're ever to put into his hands, by prayer, and supplication. He'll never put it out, of his hands, if you'll have to put it in, the good shepherd, the good position, the good friend, where every character is sustained, and every officer he's there, could have this attitude in front of it, good, good, good, good, the Lord is good.
[2:57] And the second thing is, is mercy is everlasting. And you know that mercy is a correlative term. It always is connected with another.
[3:11] And the other is what seeks us, misery. And what makes the misery? Nothing, sin, sin.
[3:23] Mercy can't have respect to anyone who is not a sinner. In the very nature of the case, mercy can only be healed with a sinner.
[3:35] God be merciful to me, you see. You won't forget, will you? I think I have told you before, it is God be merciful to me, these sinners, that the power will say, these sinners.
[3:55] Here's his Pharisee, I was going to say brother, he wasn't a brother. There's his Pharisee standing nearby. I need no sinner at all.
[4:09] He's thanking God that he isn't this, that, and the other. The poor publicans could only see sin. God be merciful to me, the sinner.
[4:26] So mercy relates to the sinner. But mercy can only come to the sinner by blood. It wouldn't be right for it to come in any other way.
[4:41] Sin must be done. And it is done in the precious blood of Christ. So that the precious blood of Christ makes the way by which mercy can come just and that a distinct point that I would that we were at in our experiences more than we are.
[5:11] That mercy is not something of an abstract favor from God. But that mercy is something that God can show you just, right, holy, not to his dishonor, but rather to his eternal honor.
[5:35] Why? Because your wrongdoing was expiated by the death of his dear son. It's sweet to see mercy flowing down to you through the blood of the man.
[5:52] Now that heightens in your esteem and value. Then again, mercy appeals to you and me constantly.
[6:07] May not be always sensible, but in principle it's there. Mercy we never tire of and we never will while we are here.
[6:20] No. In fact, the more you see of the mercy of God from day to day in your frail life, the more you love it.
[6:31] And you will say on it, yes, and I shall have this mercy of love and I do. So the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting blessed holy name showed some of us mercy more than half a century ago and still coming along is it one.
[6:57] And all is so attractive and I should think though on this point none of us can speak experimentally and because we haven't come there yet but I should well believe that mercy is most attractive to the dying pilgrim right at the end of the journey.
[7:20] I should say so. I should say so. When it's nothing but redeeming covenant mercy on a dying bed that prevents the dying saint from slipping into hell raising him up to eternal bliss.
[7:43] How attractive. Now the next thing is this his truth enduring to all generations.
[7:54] his truth may point to his declared word forever our Lord thy word is settled in heaven.
[8:09] I do wish God's people were talking about that. Whatever you are like his word is settled.
[8:20] While you and I are more like a permitting flushing about in the air. We are anywhere we are anything. One wish challenges us. How can you be happy while you are always looking at your feelings and at yourself right?
[8:40] You can't be. It's a wrong one. It's a wrong one. Here's something to endure it. The word God did he ever speak one word to you only one.
[8:57] It's a great thing to have a word from God. The time that you were here some people say well I have words from God.
[9:10] Well we hope they did. But after the events don't look as if it were right it might be imagined. For there I mustn't judge.
[9:21] I will receive it's a big thing to have a word from God. It will invariably have witness to its own origin if God seen the word you will know it.
[9:39] Ah that you will know. It will work a revolution in your feelings. It will indeed. well now this is the point that word is settled.
[9:51] It endured. God has not forgotten it. You may have had a word spoken to you 30 or 40 or more years back or more recently and it may appear just by circumstances it.
[10:07] God has forgotten the word back. Seems that it better get worse and you get dark in your soul and the devil gets let loose and well just bamboozles you from time to time you say well I better I don't know where I don't know where I am I don't know where I am talk like that to some people they think you're quite fine for a minute you are but it's true the dear child of God doesn't get it it is the name about the word of God he thought it was the word of God he helped it he did hope upon it and he answered upon it too but oh everything they shall do afterwards God hasn't forgotten at all now it's true and truly for that is he gave the old patriarchal promise about his son and twenty years after and you know twenty years in a man's life especially nowadays is a long life to be this big part of his life but
[11:14] God didn't forget it he fulfilled it and he fulfilled it to you and don't you forget it and then this is true and doing for all generations could secondly indicate and in this case I think that may be chiefly intended the character of God himself is true I am the way the truth and the life the son of God is the embodiment as well as the revelation of truth truth in all its parts you and I have all of little angles and bits of truth thank God we've got a little bit of truth through the spirit giving but all all the truth of believing in Jesus ah that aligns to all generations one generation coming and another generation coming and just now we can look at it it's a generation of decay and of the fall away from the truth of God but we mustn't forget that God's alive he's living he hasn't forgotten his own word and that yes he will make it live as long as the world itself stands now
[13:07] God's integrity by his truth is a useful being to the Lord's people's churches now we've nothing else you know from which we can really build nothing else we can really hope no you can have organizations galore and they very deteriorate and they often do become as we as the church of Rome that started quite since Peter in the third and fourth century churches began to think that they ought to have a head a kind of a representative man of the whole district and so they've got what they call a bishop and that was all right they thought well then when you've got a number of churches grouped together under the bishop they must have decided to have an archbishop a bishop over the bishops and then when that was done they go on and get what they call a universal papal or hope and there you are we all know what that means well there is the same spirit in all organizations if not what
[14:42] I say if they are once begun to depart from the word of God you can have organizations it won't make good it's the holy garden it's the world in God has moved and affected by the holy ghost that then cure to all generations and so that's useful for a church to remember and is equally useful for the individual child of God to remember he or she may sometimes think well so and so don't only so and so don't want it so and so don't acknowledge you know all the rest of the people it is people rest me laughing never shed a tear of it isn't worth a tear what have you and I and after all you can't deny
[15:49] I'm speaking what's true in God's sight if you and I have a good Lord and his mercy with us what is matter if man is the same God I ask doesn't matter if it's true God hasn't committed to man nor to churches nor to organizations the ability to turn you haven't ought to turn in hell I have to please a firm firm place saith the Lord and that Lord is the good Lord of our text the subtle subtle story is this and then I'll end brethren that we have all things and about since God is Godonentna to me Amen
