Lee, Jabez (1894-1968)

An itinerant minister (1954-68) mainly amongst the Wiltshire chapels.

Mr Lee was born at Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, and died at Trowbridge, Wiltshire. He attended Providence chapel with his parents in childhood and youth. His father, John Lee, was as minister and Jabez met his wife while his father was pastor at Hilperton. He found employment in London and attended Malham Road Chapel, Forest Hill. This is where he was baptised in 1929 by Mr Hickmott. At the start of the War he and his family moved out of London, back to his wife’s home at Trowbridge. Here they attended The Halve Chapel, and he was sent to preach from there in 1954. All of his known recorded sermons were made when preaching at The Halve between 1964 and 1968.
