[0:00] I would venture to try and make a few remarks from you will find in the 26th chapter of the Prophet Einstein. Verses 3 and 4, the 3rd and 4th verses of the 36th chapter of the Prophet Einstein.
[0:20] Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusted in thee.
[0:36] Trust ye in the Lord's river, for in the Lord Jehovah is of everlasting strength.
[0:46] As we venture upon these words this morning by way of the text, how must we feel the need, that the Holy Spirit may lead us in the true significance of these words before us.
[1:11] We may weave them in the letter of truth, and we may have been able to say, I would believe, that they are very helpful and comfortable.
[1:29] But you know, if you are our troubled, has and torment to hurt us. There is none that can bring us relief, as of God alone.
[1:47] However must we may try to patch it off, or to try and bring about a change of scenery, as it were, in our own particular hearts or cases.
[2:03] I'm sure it'll be fruitless. Oh, we need something more than the things of the flesh are to bring us into the divine realities of sacred truth.
[2:20] For the flesh grows if nothing, it is the spirit that maketh an artian. so that all those things of the flesh, whether they be religious or profane, will be of no value unless they are both overthrown by the mighty power of God.
[2:50] And then we shall murder the real and vital realities of true godliness. Oh, it's our mercy to come away out of the flesh, to come away from all other helpers, but under him alone I can help the poor, the jeannie, the distressed, and the castaways.
[3:20] Oh, what a mercy to have this knowledge given us. So we've come into his house in a condition where we have no helper and can find no help in ourselves or any around us.
[3:44] Then, by we being able to prove this day that in God, God alone, how there is help and comfort.
[3:57] In these chapters we've read this morning how God, through the anointing of the Spirit in Revelation unto the Proverbs, drew a separating line that tricks the righteous and the wicked as it is throughout God's Word and tells us the condition of those and what it will be in the great day when God has caused the heavens to be rolled together as a scroll, when the heavens shall melt with fervent heat and mankind shall be brought to judgment.
[4:46] Oh, my friends, the day will come when the mighty voice of God will have been heard and must be heard in the dividing of those things which are already divided in the Word and in his own mind too, my nice Peter, reverently, they are already divided but in that day there will be the completion of it throughout the conversations of eternity very close but very true and very real to some of us how we need our thought about this very recently and how we shall stand in that great day to know, my friend, how we might have a lot of religion.
[5:39] We might be looked upon by others to pose us a lot of religion but you know what have we that is real? What have we that shall stand in the great day how when God comes in his majesty and power you know it is not how we might pass muster among men so we stand how before the all thirty are of him who pierceth into the inmost recesses of our hearts oh when he does this what hideous monsters he must perceive if they are seen by us how terrible must they be to the pureness and the holiness of God so then there is this dividing line drawn and yet we read as in the twentieth verse in this particular chapter come thy people enter into thy chambers and shut the doors about thee hide thine self as it were for a moment until the indignation be over past well we read that in a moment in a twinkling of an eye he'll come and so in that moment when he comes what a mercy if your eyes be able to enter into thy chambers that is into the chamber of his delivering hand in the chamber of his safety and be delivered from that terrible condition that must fall upon the wicked so then may God grant it in his heavenly will this day that we might have some evidences within our own souls that we are among his people those whom he foreordained unto eternal life gone before the foundation of the world for these are they and they only that shall be enabled to enter into their chambers and hide themselves and after that moment doesn't mean hide from the presence of the
[8:27] Lord oh no but hide themselves from those things which have come to pass why there be a safe abiding in him and there will be that I believe that all his people shall know that he has done all well well in his verse here then which we read by thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee well it is often we can say our minds are stayed on God and before we speak about the perfect peace we feel it is right to speak upon this particular sentence here that the mind being stayed on
[9:34] God well you know if our minds were always stayed upon God and those things that concern our souls we shouldn't be fit for those things that we are called upon as creatures upon the earth to accomplish I don't feel it means that we are it means every moment that we shall have our minds stayed upon God but I believe it means this that our minds will be stayed upon him and when by the spirit help and power we are enabled to think upon him and our minds are led unto God and
[10:36] I believe that is the means of God appointed here on and that when we assemble together in earthly courts is it not here that our minds are stayed on him I know for a witness that there are times even in earthly courts where the intruders will come.
[11:11] These intruders have entered into the heart. Have you ever known what it is to come into God's house, my friend? Think upon what you've been doing in the past week, what you intend to do in the next.
[11:28] Don't be too sure what you've got to do in the next. Life is no young, sir. You know, these intruders, how they come, don't they, into the heart.
[11:45] And they seem to crowd in sometimes. And so much so that our minds are far off from being stayed upon him.
[11:58] And you'll find that you have no power whatsoever to overthrow or to rout any of those things.
[12:12] well, when our minds are stayed on him, I believe it is when he comes, and with a false sense of his mercy out to us, when he comes and gives us a little taste of his forgiving love, when we are favoured, perhaps in reading his word, to be carried away after time, things, and all that is around us.
[12:47] I know it's been with me sometimes when one has been reading the word. All around us may be going on as before, and yet we hear it not because our thoughts are carried away with the sacred word.
[13:10] And so it is, and our minds are then stayed upon him. And there are other times too.
[13:22] when sin lays heavy upon the soul, when we feel burdened and cast down by indwelling sin, here it is that our minds are stayed on him.
[13:44] And in what way would you think that our minds are stayed on him when we feel the weight of indwelling sin? Well, it's stayed, that our minds are stayed upon him in his own sacrifice, in the looking upon him as he was leased, looking upon him as he hung upon the cross as a spectacle out of the world.
[14:17] I speak that reverently. How you see wicked men looked upon him as a mere man. Their minds were not stayed upon him.
[14:29] They only did what Satan had devised and what he had put in their hearts to do. But you know, our minds are then stayed on him as we behold him as our crucified Savior.
[14:49] earth. Oh, what you've sung this morning, that beautiful verse in that second hymn of ours this morning, how you see to the dear fountain of thine blood, come, God, I fly.
[15:06] and there would wash my spotted soul from crying as a deep as dying. Here it is, our minds are stayed on him as we are unable to come as filthy sinners, vile sinners, and that also we have to come in humble confession before him.
[15:31] and he knows we can't flee from sin. It doesn't mean that we are to sin that grace may have found, God forbid.
[15:44] Oh, now shall we do those things because we speak as we do concerning sin, but we cannot cease from sin.
[15:58] It's in our very frame. it's in our believe being is worth God we shall never find. I feel persuaded of it.
[16:10] Any good in our own flesh. Though it's a mercy that God is in his grace toward us mortifies, crucifies, enables us to put it on by numbers on men's.
[16:28] It is, I believe it will be known by our dying day if we carry about with us a body of death.
[16:40] Death within me, says the poet, all about me, but the remedy without me. Seek it in the sacred love.
[16:51] oh, I live long enough to cease from seeking any help in the flesh, wretched flesh. Well, there will be then and our mind stayed upon him when he comes and leads us, leads us unto himself and shows us the only way of salvation, the only way of deliverance, to be delivered from the power of sin and to be washed in that sacred fountain.
[17:37] well, he says here that he will keep, thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is staying on thee.
[17:51] Well, thou be in keeping him this peace and it will be a perfect peace. That is to say this peace that Christ brought to his people and given unto them which he said in the word my peace I give unto you not that the world giveth give I unto you this peace this is a peace he obtained upon us upon the cross that precious peace that can never be annulled can never be any wise overthrown in the peace that was made for Christ Jehovah and his bride a peace that was made with by God with his church with his nation the righteous nation that keep the truth so that this peace is not like the peace that nations make one with another on earth when another generation arises and says well we don't we did not make this agreement with those on earth that are dying we shall drink this peace and there's war oh no there's no more war with a child of God and there is this peace made known in the soul that peace blessing peace
[19:44] I've been known a few moments of it through life journey when you've been pulled out tumult when the gates of hell are seen to be burst upon thee when you've been driven in the room before and feared that you would come to utter ruin and God has brought you peace that peace which passes all understanding you'll never understand that peace which God weaves to the soul and also the peace he brings at the first you know there may be one here I know not how that you are desiring and longing for this peace before you feel at half times to be at butler's with the great and mighty power of darkness and with with with
[21:04] Satan as he comes upon you and well you've heard me say many times concerning that particular point how that Satan never has a quarrel with he never did there are his but if there are these things working in thy soul winner that there is a tumult a struggling a poor life may I say here I will give you every encouragement to press on that thy mind may be stayed upon him though alone is your hope and I feel persuaded of this he that has been the author of your improvisers the author of those many things that trouble you the day will come when you know what peace is for peace is the opposite that we know to war therefore if there is a warfare in thy soul
[22:35] God in his own time and way I will bring you that peace and you'll know it by the power within for then if you seek to find your sins seek to find those things that have troubled you you won't be able to find them I would love to know another time of that peace in his blessed mass but we would not cast away our confidence remembering those times when that peace has been known in the soul and because had it not been brought to us we should have never been here before him as we are this day some of us thou will keep it in perfect peace but is a perfect peace it is perfect because in a perfect
[23:50] Lord perfect God therefore there are no amendments to be made to it there is nothing of man's merit to be added to it as nothing whereby man man can increase this peace or diminish it for it's perfect and by I say here there is nothing perfect on earth but what can I be added to in some way or other God and yet you see men are often trying to make things more perfect in regards to this peace which is complete oh what a mercy is we have come for some freshly things which many are endeavouring to do to bring about this peace in others when
[25:00] God is the author of it I don't mean we're not to do those things we have committed to our charge to give to act and do I don't mean that but there are some who are in their own self-greatestness and in all their ways and works our endeavouring to bring about this peace well it won't be a perfect peace it may bring about a false peace but it'll be with such like our dear saviour speaks in the world Satan will return one day find the earth swift and garnish that is to say we formed and appear unto men how to be perfect yea ye come and find such a one and enter him now dear saviour says the state of that man is worse than the foolst for what an awful thing his saint goes out of his own and then returns but it's a perfect peace because
[26:21] God of carmen that's called one armed ended in himself and so he has brought about a perfect peace now we'll keep him in perfect peace keep him in it so that whatever may come against them whatever troubles trials or afflictions or sorrows whatever may take place in their life duly he'll keep them in this peace this peace which he alone is the author of which he gave and brought to us his own time all we enter the time appointed the dear poet of the appointed time rolled on a face not to propose but call by grace to change the heart renew the will turn their feet to
[27:30] Zion's ill this is where they receive a perfect peace and once we see it will be for them forever so then those whose mind are stayed on him he'll keep them in perfect peace although we may go day by day and how many are buckled with the power of darkness yet this peace what he gives is that that shall be made perfect well there will be a perfect peace presently or should I say this peace I will be seen as being perfect perfectly when we come to our end oh what a mercy to be able to say we say that one word in our poor risking breath in that green that day peace oh
[28:49] I long to know and to allow this made more known that in the last moment we decide peace peace isn't so much isn't it that peace which I have already said past it all understanding that peace that has an abiding in Christ and a peace that is so perfect that it lasts throughout eternity and throughout an account of ages of eternity this peace I will be made known no more there struggling with the darkness no more being misunderstood in this wicked world no more being driven in the river no more being evil spoken of oh my friends what a mercy to get safely landed out beyond this wicked world and to beware those everlasting peace that peace which are the saviour obtained for us as so great upon
[30:10] Christ upon the cross all that we will enter into a true praise and love under him for his love in obtaining this peace for us prior to even here how dependent we are to pray him and honor him while I speak here this morning you know to feel the hardness of one's heart to feel those softness really off spirit to behold these things and to believe them here we need that thought of peace to be made known in our hearts we my wind of praise and honor unto him who are being so loving and kind to us and then this peace
[31:25] I believe I was ordained to the Father in the covenant that our Savior should obtain this peace for his people now dear John Kent said peace by his cross as Jesus made the church's everlasting hand so that he obtained it and he obtained this peace through many buckles some might say our Savior in buckles well see him in the wilderness when tempted of the devil forty days and forty nights think of it and when he was all hungry you must remember this too he was a god man we must remember that Satan endeavor to trouble him and torment him in that way because he was hungry and he said command that these stones be my head how very evident and how very weird it is that Satan comes to that very point you see to tempt him and though he stood as the poetess and our captain stood the far he tensed and we stand through him where he stood it and also see him battling upon the cross battling are there as he did when he came to that one point my God my God why hast thou forsaken me does it seem possible that our dear Savior experience such a moment are to feel forsaken of his father do you feel forsaken and alone sinner do you hear the lion roar well the lion stood wandering around at the cross you know and troubled him and so it was that he he ended into our path in this sense in all their afflictions he was afflicted about the angel of his presence saved him so then he was there at the cross he poured a mighty battle and there over through all the powers of hell all the powers of sin all that comes against you and I had obtained a thought in peace that he might return unto his father having made peace between the father and his people made peace between the church and his people and God oh what a peace that was when he made that peace that the father then saw the church complete complete in Christ complete in him and forever thou will keep him in perfect peace
[35:27] and mind is stained on thee because he trusted in thee that's not an easy thing to do to trust is it well it's a wonderful thing there is an inward trust a secret trust and it enables us to trust him where we cannot trace him trust him knowing that he will never deceive us and we can trust him you know by and with all our affairs all our secrets you know when we speak of secrets there are there are those that we have which are known only to God yes a secret is a secret you know I know you hear it sometimes said naturally
[36:30] I'll tell you a secret it's not a secret if you've told me to know be very careful how you speak concerning these things I had somebody say to me recently I'm telling you in confidence I said well it'll be a bit difficult you're telling me in confidence I might let it out and now we want to be very careful about this confident talking you know if we have a secret rest it's as well to keep it in our own rest unless it might be taken hold of by Satan and made more of than really intended my son of a return how then are these secrets the secrets are with between God and them the forest is these secrets they shall learn there are all those secrets then that God gives unto his people which is which they come to him from time to time and by I say and he were to converse some might say well I don't seem to converse with God well it isn't what you seem to have there is a conversing with him you know not with the lip but with the heart and how he comes sometimes does he know as done in what do in life do you come and say I love thee well my joy and also is he for him my dear son since I spake against him
[38:24] I do earnestly remember him still thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is straight of thee because he trusted in thee trust him then out for his love his love which is so great and and wonderful unto his people that love that was cast upon them in eternity love that was made known when he shed his precious blood upon the cross that love that was made known to them when he came into their hearts and taught them their condition and brought them by his grace unto himself then this peace for the mercies we know a little of it well we feel we've only just touched upon these things a little we can only enter into them as the
[39:38] Lord leads us but we know there's more in them that we can see it always will be for there is such a fullness in God's world that we can never enter into it out from our own force or our wisdom fire O dream need to touch beneath we know they're there that God alone can reveal them and show them to us for Almighty God bless us and forgive all that one has said in this as we ask him
