[0:00] The words I would venture to try and make a few remarks from, you will find in the 33rd chapter of the book of Exodus, verses 14 and 15, 14th and 15th verses.

[0:30] Now the 33rd chapter of the book of Exodus, and he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

[0:47] And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us, nor repent.

[1:00] We notice in reading the chapters in Exodus, that Moses was a man of like passion, as you and I.

[1:19] Therefore, this same man of whom we read of this morning, Moses, had seen God's wonders of all.

[1:34] In the first place, how that God had made him a leader, though he felt unfitied for it, though he could point when a man feels unfitied.

[2:00] How about in his case, he felt unfitied. As you know, he beheld and saw God's wonders wrought in Egypt.

[2:18] He saw how that God delivered and could deliver by his terrible acts.

[2:32] And he beheld how the children of Israel were brought out by a mighty and outstretched arm.

[2:50] He saw also the great deliverance at the Red Sea.

[3:07] When the enemies were driving behind, the wind see before them.

[3:22] They do it, could not turn to the right hand or land. Yet God bid them to go forward. This and many other things he beheld.

[3:38] He beheld also the time when they came. Notice the historical part of God's word I'm speaking here. It's the experience of God's people.

[3:52] They came to the waters of Mara. Bitter waters.

[4:04] Have you been brought to the waters of Mara? And sees God's wonders wrought. Or into those places one has already mentioned.

[4:21] Seen the enemy cast out before you. And brought forth out of nature's darkness. Into his marvelous land.

[4:36] By a mighty and outstretched arm. And see his wonders wrought. In your own experience.

[4:48] When you felt well I overthrown. But having come to the waters of Mara.

[5:04] The troubles, trials and afflictions that may be in your path. You may have said at the time I can't partake of this.

[5:23] That the waters are bitter. But you know. It is in these places that we prove.

[5:36] That Christ. The tree of life. And he's been cast into all the bitter waters of trial.

[5:49] Difficulties and sorrows. He has enabled us to partake of them. And hath taught us.

[6:09] That it is he and he only that can sweeten. Every bitter cough. And he does it.

[6:23] By entering into the heart. Overthrowing. All the unbelief.

[6:35] And all the fear that arrives. And gives us. And gives us all a taste. Of himself the living water.

[6:52] Which is sweet. Out of the taste. Here it is a time when joy. Filled for heart.

[7:04] And we are unable to say. That the way he hath brought us.

[7:18] And we're right. Well Moses experienced all these secrets from me. And I believe saw in them.

[7:28] Also. Are those things which.

[7:41] Are applicable. Are to. The leading and teaching. Of the spirit. To the soul. For. For. For.

[7:51] For. For. For. We believe. That all God's word. Is built. Is by. Inspiration. And that.

[8:02] In the old. Testament. There is embodied. All the blessedness. Of the gospel.

[8:14] That came through. The Lord. And Savior. Jesus Christ. Be not deceived.

[8:26] Son of. For any of those things. May be spoken in thine ear. By false prophets. By deviser. To.

[8:36] To. Turn aside. The old testament. Say. We have no need of it.

[8:51] Because it is here. We have. The revealings. Of those good things to come.

[9:02] Which did come. And were made known. And made manifest. When our Lord.

[9:15] And Savior. Came here on earth. Yea. We believe. From Genesis. To Revelation. The word of God.

[9:26] In one blessed home. For our dear Savior. We know you are on earth. So plainly declared.

[9:40] He spoke of those things. Concerning himself. That was spoken by the prophets. And Moses. And in the Psalms.

[9:53] So that I say. Be not deceived. By the craft. And deceit. Of the. Of the. Enemy of soul. And the enemy of God.

[10:07] We believe. It is rampant. In the day we live. When many are. Left to believe. In lies. And being left.

[10:18] In that condition. Must fall into hell. And perish. We want something more.

[10:32] Than those things which. Men may gather together. By some of their own. Crafty. Imaginations. there aren't those things that God will teach in the soul not so much by a lot of study by the walking on the mountain and the pathway of sorrow distress and affliction some less, some more others set up a standard here trial there will be of some poor or other and the greatest of all will be the trials and tribulations that the soul passes through one poet declared concerning the soul that passes as though it had itself well have Moses then though he had beheld all these great things that took place in his pathway and the children of Israel did he come to a place again here as God has spoken unto him that he had

[12:17] Moses said he had not told him who he would send with him well it appears here that he his presence should go with him presence had meant himself to he has his presence it means himself and he said my presence shall go with me but it's all doing well to feel his presence is with us very easy to feel it when everything is going well with us when there doesn't seem much to disturb things in providence going along are very comfortable not much exercise in the soul health in good in a good condition when we come into these places like Moses came here then we shall want to cry and turn to him that his presence might be with us well his presence is with his people at all times his presence was with his people ere they had to be

[13:58] I may put that rightly his presence was with them when they were brought forth and all mankind on this earth I'm often trying to think of that particular time when this force was brought forth as to his presence being with me then well it must have been so for as you know we believe in the eternal decrees and settlements of God they were from all eternity and that our lives minutest circumstance is subject to his own so that our birth his presence was with us my presence then shall go with thee in our childhood and it ought be for his presence and his care over us his praise preserving care we shall not be here in the platform of time bear with me here on these particular points we look back upon life's journey he saved this poor sinner through his presence a watery drain the eye but a mold space to spare

[16:30] I want you to be no more is there not a cause you know when we behold these things it gives us that confidence not a false confidence it gives us that confidence that though the enemy comes with many a piercing doubt comes off times to cause unbelief to sow to work that we wonder if we know anything safely the voices he cannot take from us though all do have tried this hard cheering promise that the Lord will provide to provide us with his presence his presence then he says it shall go with me no penitentiary of our death it overthrows all the powers of everything else it overthrows the power of Satan his word shall overpowers overthrow all that power of unbelief sure I may be troubled with it

[18:28] I believe unbelief is one of the worst troubles of a child of God they are passing through times of destitution times of trouble soul trouble there is nothing so bitter I feel as destitution to feel absolutely destitute you know what that means literally to be destitute that means I have nothing no place of abode nowhere to rest no comfort some might say well surely a child of God doesn't come into these places well perhaps you haven't been but if you're one of God's children he'll be you then sooner or later old car will reason will say well why is this surely that shouldn't be so you add soul to soul by

[20:02] Christmas his presence will uphold against all the craft and deceit of that enemy who loves to crime in thy weakest part in your destitution I'll tell you I believe God's purpose to permit us to come into a place of destitution to wean us away from self for I've lived long enough to know as so as our worst enemy call you more mourning that many things mourn over self or self well often we plough against

[21:24] God's dealings with them so I don't deserve this I'll try to live a better life I'll try to do this that and the other I go to chapel as often for to author open and some are left to say many things I am doing for Christ but my friends has there been a little Pharisee pride mixed with it has there been some seeking our applause for whatever it might be as God in days of old chastised his people sorry will you or not we are into destitution what are we going to do then with all our gritty self-righteousness what we've done for

[22:41] Christ and all our enthusiasm all those things that might be in our hearts that leave a short zone bring us into a place I say again of destitution and we do not realize through all this season is with us this Christmas is ultimate end to bring us into a place of true confession it's right to commit you in confession really speaking if I may speak for myself my lips said many things in confession my friends it's only just recently on one or two occasions

[24:00] I believe I've only I've known real confession it's coming like a dear woman to his feet it won't be brought to his feet easy sounds easy brought to his feet the old iron of oil brought to his feet and there in humble confession for that's what it is the act of it in our soul's experience there to wipe it to wash his feet with your tears wipe them with the hairs of iron these are those characters so to where he brings down the arms brings down the lofty heart and brings down all those things that are the flesh and soul worships him and if they are near to heaven at those moments when they say that might mean that they are with all their many activities those things that are very fine to their flesh than to say what a big

[25:52] Christian I am I've done so much for Christ and I'm so happy oh my friends what delusion when God comes and teaches us shows us the fundamentals of true religion and I am sure he'll take us like he did do it Joe in hand and he will be cause it to come to pass and we will be plunged into the ditch to our own close of us away goes your self righteousness away goes all that you've done hope Christ and if we in the ministry it'll make us feel the least of everyone wonder why

[27:01] God ever took notice of us for his face don't thing to us well we should never strive the iron seats in the markets we should never strive for the highest places in the center coast we creak away we would my friend I thought that many had to honor only I could creak away rather than to go into the poor you'll find my friends my words be true God brings us if I may find but one spot beneath the throne of the land some humble place now this is not ours by nature man would be something but our dear Savior's teaching is not it he teach him how he was himself knowing and with other things he he was revived revived again the wildable thing my friend when we are to live we can take it patiently that's what for that there's time when

[28:35] God enables us to do that take it patiently and come get out enemies into his hands my God dear save father forgiveness they know no thank him I'm sure you'll never have bitterness in your heart against another he got to deal with you because he'll bring you to a spark with my soul and God he'll bring you to a place my friends when he'll bring you away from everything else on earth I've been there very much in the last few days I feel that I've got nothing if if I haven't got those things that are real in my soul I've got nothing I want those things that are real and solid for you know we know not what hour he may come when he shall come in the first second third or fourth watch but he will come blessed are those that when he come are watching what

[29:55] I say unto you I say unto all watch we may be ready to go out to meet the pride the hour of his appointment that his presence now may be with us and he said my presence shall go with me and I will give thee rest rest so then he promised him not only his presence but he would give him rest I didn't say when didn't say when there was now and then he gave him rest rest are from the button but you know he was only just at this particular time he was rolling only at the beginning of it as it were in his experience with taking the children of

[31:11] Israel on the journey through the wilderness then you see though we read that he was meek of spirit yet there came a time when by the provocation of the children of Israel he himself promoted by the God reproved him for it so that he went in with Moses for a time so it is my friends there are those times when we might speak unabashedly if you have the root of the battle in you fine you can't just wipe your mouth and say

[32:23] I've done no evil he's need to be in trouble because there is a principle within how that would live out without sin and without any wrong thought the more I try to ask in my own case trying to ask the more keep the door of mind it seems as though it's the reverse order to teach us and make us sick of self find with it rich itself he said my presence shall go with me and

[33:23] I will give thee rest well there are those times of rest when he brings us into a place like he did out of the water of the bar he brought them to elast there will be the elast in a place of rest where there were twelve wells of water three scored in ten palm trees those wells of water to quench the forest and the trees to shape them far the hot sun of the desert place of rest also we might be full when he brings his children his people to a place of rest rest as in the twenty third song he made me to lie down and we part him he lead me beside the still waters his presence his search that he being that good shepherd he is ever with the sheep they are favored to lie down now these green pastures are various sometimes in a picture could be a green pasture peace where we are favored to lie down in a green pasture of vision and in that of vision favored to drink of the clear waters of his heavenly love and peace and joy within afflictions may not see what else would escape our sight how though he vile and devour we and

[36:25] God how pure and bright we pastures the still waters where we may have passed through the tempest of seas of friction and trial yet he brings us into the still waters whispers peace be still though we might still be in the trouble but he brought a calm in the soul enabled us to be able to say blessed a preacher that hath brought me more away from the world more away from my trifling toys more away from my earthly precious more away from my wretched idols and

[37:46] I may have within me whole more out of it I bid thee all depart I have those easy in my souls jar the still water of peace and joy that the world can never give hence then all those things that may be of a country peace or that may be appear to be to me a comfort when in themselves they are detestable to the pure all searching eye of God so

[38:48] I might swell it doesn't leave as many earthly pleasures while God won't leave many also no misunderstanding here we prize the those things that has given us we are likely to use for our comfort and I am speaking here of those things we may commit to be brought into the home or anywhere else and are not according to this sacred following our idols however they may be polished and we might have them in our home where at one time we would have not have thought of going to search for them you know you can't shut them away from God God sees all things in your shoes them out

[39:54] I don't want to want them how then he said to Moses and he said to Moses my presence shall go with thee and I will give thee where else may the Lord any blessing kind and like on akUI and mm Thank you.
