[0:00] In dependence upon thee, Lord, for all needed help, I venture to draw your prayerful attention to Job chapter 36, verse 22, and the last four words.

[0:28] Job chapter 36, verse 22, and the last four words.

[0:40] Who teacheth like him? Who teacheth like him?

[0:58] It was not my intention to read in full both the chapters of this book.

[1:13] But the more I read, the word seemed to lay hold upon me, displaying the greatness, the majesty, the glory of God, that in one's own spirit one felt a gracious awe and a humble desire.

[1:46] Lord, do teach me from thy word. Who teacheth like him?

[2:00] Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, as indeed you have now just been singing.

[2:14] Job was one who feared God and eschewed evil.

[2:27] God, amazingly prospered, and yet his concern seen over his family and his walk was in the fear of the almighty God.

[2:49] God, Satan is stirred up against this dear man. Those in spiritual health, lively exercise of soul must not be dismayed or disheartened to be attacked by the enemy of souls.

[3:21] It fell on a day. Such an experience that you and I have never suffered.

[3:33] Though we know in some small part, we have not been called to lose everything.

[3:48] We have not had our body smitten with boils from head to foot.

[3:58] We have been brought into experiences of trial, of testing, of sorrow, of bereavement.

[4:11] Job, and I shall not enlarge this point, needed teaching.

[4:22] Though he feared God, though his walk was upright, yet in the experience through which he passed, there issued from his lips words that did not display wisdom.

[4:47] God, not that I, for a moment, would set myself up to be his judge. He experienced also that his friends forcibly accused him, misunderstood his affliction.

[5:11] And yet, and yet, and this is the point I desire to bring before you at this juncture. Every now and then, there issued forth from this dear man, in the depth of his affliction, words that demonstrated his faith in his God.

[5:42] He knoweth the way that I take, and when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. He performeth the thing that is appointed for me.

[5:58] Oh, that I knoweth the way that I knoweth the way that I have been able to bring before you at this juncture. I believe he is ordering all things rightly for me. And those sublime words, I know that my Redeemer liveth.

[6:15] Through the furnace of fire, there was the manifestation of dross which was burned up.

[6:27] But never destroying utterly his faith in God. And bringing him at last to that blessed place when he said, I repent in dust and ashes.

[6:45] And now I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear. But now I see thee. Instruction and teaching.

[6:55] And he proved, as Paul says, that we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

[7:10] And God blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning that he had twice as much. Our God is our teacher.

[7:23] He has all knowledge. He has all wisdom. And what a mercy.

[7:35] And how we need to pray for it. To pray for the open ear to hear his teaching. I pray that we may be more and more sensitive in our daily path to teaching.

[7:58] To pray in the path that the Lord God leads us. That there may be that instruction and teaching for the prophet of our soul.

[8:16] Thus says the Lord thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. I am the Lord thy God, which teacheth thee.

[8:28] What to? To profit. Which leadeth thee by the way that I want to go now.

[8:40] By the way that thou shouldest go. Teaching and instruction.

[8:52] God the Father. God the Son. As our teacher. Never man spake like this man.

[9:07] And as he rose again. Amounts the commission given to his servant. Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

[9:22] So further. The Holy Spirit of God. Who will and is directed. I won't say directed.

[9:34] He is given. Is the better word. Given. By the dear Redeemer. To his people. Let me turn to that word.

[9:44] That I might name it rightly. In your hearing. As the Lord is about to leave his disciples. And he says this.

[9:57] These things have I spoken unto you. Being yet present with you. His teaching. But. He was about to leave.

[10:08] The comforter. Which is the Holy Ghost. Whom the Father will send in my name. He shall teach you all things.

[10:19] And bring all things. To your remembrance. Whatsoever. I have said unto you. How be it.

[10:30] When he. The spirit of truth shall come. He will guide you. Into all truth. We should pray.

[10:41] Earnestly. For this. It is the promised gift. And may. We be favored. To be blessed.

[10:52] With that teachable spirit. To sit. At his feet. To hear. His word. His teaching.

[11:06] At times. May be by way. Of discipline. I think we have. Somewhere. In this. Self-same.

[11:18] Book. That the Lord. Opens the ear. To discipline. This again. Is for. Our profit. This again.

[11:30] Is in. Love. To our. Souls. We. Have. Acknowledged.

[11:40] I personally. Have done so. To be. Thankful. For the discipline. Of my. Parents. Now. A parent.

[11:51] And I'm not speaking. Of my own parents. But this is general. And it certainly. Would include them. Could. Make a mistake. It could be. Too harsh.

[12:02] On the other hand. Could be. Too lenient. But here. Is. Our teacher. With wisdom.

[12:14] And. Unerring. Love. For the profit. Of. Our soul. To discipline. I quoted.

[12:25] Did I. That word. Teaching us. To observe. All things. See. Our danger. Is. That we. May.

[12:39] Fall. Into. An error. Of. Neglecting. Part. Of. God's word. If you look. At.

[12:50] Bible. Sometimes. You see. That have been. Used. Well. You see. Some portions. Well. Marked. You can tell. That that part. Has been. Well read. Much loved. And I don't.

[13:00] Find. For. With that. Not. The least bit. But. What about. Other portions. That might be. A precept. Of instruction.

[13:12] Of. Searching. Oh. That the Lord. Will give us. That hunger. For. Teaching. That may not be.

[13:23] Pleasing. To us. In our flesh. But we know. Will be profitable. To us. In our. Soul.

[13:34] People. And here. We are. We are. Privileged. To have. The very. Word of God. And. From this. He teaches.

[13:45] His. Dear people. And it is. By his. Word. And here. We need. To pray. Lord.

[13:56] Give me. That right. Understanding. And that. Not only. Do I. Hear. Thy word. But. That I may.

[14:08] Obey it. That I may. Walk it. Out. Further. The Lord. Teaches us. Our dear.

[14:20] Saviour. Particularly. By. The example. That he has. Set. Upon. This earth.

[14:31] In his life. Here. Below. And. There again. It is easy. To stand back. Almost. With admiration.

[14:43] And mark. The. Forgiveness. Of our Lord. Father. Forgive them. They know not. What they do. To stand back. And mark out.

[14:55] The. Humility. Of our Lord. Who took a towel. And girded himself. And washed. The disciples. Feet. So far. So good.

[15:06] But what does the Lord say. He left. This. As an example. That what I have done. To you. That ye should also do. To one another.

[15:18] It's not just to. Learn. In the head. Not only to admire. As well. We do. But to walk it out. To do it. That the teaching.

[15:31] May be effectual. In transforming. Our life. The example. Set. And then.

[15:42] As I look at this word. Who. Who. Teacheth like him. The Lord. Will teach us.

[15:53] In the path. That we are led. And there's nothing like. That. Personal. Experience.

[16:05] In the soul. Of walking out. What he. Has taught. To the profit. Of our. Our. Souls. If I may use.

[16:16] Just. A simple. Illustration. Here. When. I had. That very. Limited. Training. In the.

[16:27] War years. In the medical. Branch. To. Prepare one. For. The work. Of nursing. And so forth. One. Learned. Much.

[16:37] In the head. About the. Body. And we. I remember. Then. Marvelling. The more. I heard. How fearfully.

[16:48] And wonderfully. We are made. But. It was. To see. Cases. To nurse. Cases. That was. The experience. And that is.

[16:59] The teaching. And so. As we walked. Or you may take. Any other. Matter. I mean. A person. May have. Teaching. On. Mechanics.

[17:10] Or building. Or carpentry. May not. Be told. What to do. But it's to. Work it out.

[17:21] It's to. Walk it out. And that's. What we need. A grace. To. Walk out. In. Personal. Experience. Experience. I hinted.

[17:31] I hinted. That the. Teaching. Teaching. Of our. Lord. Is often. By way of. Testing. As it was. By. Job.

[17:43] You see. Friends. Perhaps. We've grown. Too. Self-sufficient. Perhaps. We've. Been. Lifted up. With a measure. Of pride.

[17:54] Perhaps. We've been. Somewhat. Prayerless. In our prayers. And the Lord. Sees fit. To. Teach us. Afresh. And we need.

[18:05] That ear. To be open. To discipline. Amen. But even. Then. Apart. From. A need. Of. Such. Dealings.

[18:16] The Lord. Sometimes. Will teach us. How precious. Faith. Is. By putting. His dear. People.

[18:27] Into a path. Of the. Trial. And the test. Of faith. And. To. That we might be.

[18:37] Profited. Thereby. Who. Teacheth. Like. Him. Wherein. Ye. Greatly.

[18:47] Rejoice. Though now. For a season. If need be. Ye are. In heaviness. Through manifold. Temptations. That the trial. Of your faith. Being much more.

[18:58] Precious. Than gold. That perisheth. Though it be. Tried. With fire. And may be. Found. Unto praise. And. Honor. And glory.

[19:09] The appearing. Of Jesus Christ. Whom. Having not. Having not. Seen. Ye love. In whom though. Ye see him not. Yet. You rejoice.

[19:21] With joy. Unspeakable. And full of glory. Through the teaching. Of our Lord. And the leading. Into. These paths. There is.

[19:31] That instruction. And. Leading. To the path. To the path. Of joy. And again. That self. May grow less. And Christ.

[19:42] Be made. More precious. To. Our souls. who.

[19:52] Who. Teacheth. Like him. Now. I've been exercised.

[20:04] On this. Next line. Of thought. But. I feel. I have warrant. To go forward.

[20:14] With it. To leave. A few. Seed thoughts. Tonight. In this way. How.

[20:25] Did. God. Teach. Job. It was by. The observation.

[20:35] This latter part. Of his majesty. Of his. Creation. And the instruction. Seen.

[20:47] The lessons. Glead. That the more. This. Dear man. In his affliction. Beheld.

[20:58] The wonders. Of creation. The mighty. Power of God. God. It brought him. It taught him.

[21:10] More of his. God. The greatness. Of his God. The holiness. And majesty. Of God. And his.

[21:22] Unworthiness. And. Sinfulness. Sinfulness. So. Just. Briefly. My mind. Hovered.

[21:32] On. One or two. Thoughts. In. This direction. As we. Have here. At first. I would. Speak. Of one.

[21:43] As the Lord. Speaks. Or rather. It was Elihu. Who was a good man. Speaking. To Job. Of the clouds. The Lord.

[21:55] Teaches us. And. Creation. The clouds. As. We've just read. In that. Thirty. Seventh chapter.

[22:06] Of Job. Of how. That they. Come. At the. Bidding. Of. Almighty God. He. Causeth it. To come.

[22:17] As the. Dear man. As the dear. Man. Elihu. Says. Whether. For. Correction. Or. For his. Land. Or.

[22:29] For mercy. This. Demonstrates. What I'm trying. In my. Feeble way. To set. Before you. Tonight. Teaching. Job.

[22:40] You've. Seen. Some clouds. Now. What is the teaching? Why have they come? Is it for. Correction?

[22:51] Do you. You will remember. There was a time. When the Israelites. Sought for a king. And God.

[23:03] Showed. His displeasure. As Samuel said. Is it not wheat harvest today? God. Is now about to send thunder. A thing. Very.

[23:16] Unusual. In those. Eastern lands. At harvest time. Thunder. Again. In the days of Ezra. As the people. Were condemned. For.

[23:26] Their mixed marriages. And other sins. There was the great. Rain. So. As clouds. Come into our path. Is it for.

[23:39] Some sin of mine. Lord. Teach me. And speak to me. Or is it. For. His land.

[23:51] In this way. I think of. Famine. I think. Of the cloths. Of the earth. I think of. The ground. Standing so hard.

[24:02] Chapped. And cracked. Its mouth open. As it were. Longing. For rain. Why. Has there been.

[24:12] A withholding. Of rain. Why do we read of it. In the word of God. Displeasure of the almighty. Sin.

[24:23] Either personal. Or in. The land. We sometimes. Quote that line. Lord. I hear of showers.

[24:33] Of blessing. Thou art scattering. Full and free. Showers. The thirsty. Land refreshing. Bid some shower. Descend on me. Even me.

[24:44] Now. When. Did you last receive. The blessing. Of the shower. Of blessing. Into your soul. Is it a time.

[24:55] Of famine. Are you parched. Is there a cause. Have we grieved the spirit. This is what I pray. Lord.

[25:06] Teach me. And instruct me. And show me. My fault. And my folly. And bring me. To repentance. Before.

[25:17] Thee. But also. We read. Not only. For his. Land. But for. Mercy. When the Lord. Opens those.

[25:27] Windows of heaven. And pours down. A blessing. You see the clouds. We've seen today. As sudden. Very. Heavy. Showers.

[25:39] On the other hand. We've also seen. Lately. When there's been. Barely. A millimeter. A millimeter. Of rain. But all. From the clouds.

[25:50] And when we really. Stop to think of it. Every drop. Is under the control. Of God. And again. We may. Be reminded. Of.

[26:01] An experience. Often. That we come into. In showered. Occasions. It's dry there. It's wet there. The sovereignty. Of almighty.

[26:12] God. Lord. Bring the showers. Of blessing. Teach me. Teach me. I'm utterly. Dependent. Upon thee. Lord. I can't command.

[26:22] The cloud. To come. I can't command. The cloud. To drop. With rain. Upon me. But Lord. I pray for it. I plead with it. And those showers. Of blessing.

[26:33] And that will revive me. And refresh me. And grant that growth. In grace. And oh Lord. That promise. Of fruitfulness. Bless. Do. Bless me.

[26:44] Indeed. And then I would just take. Another. Example. We speak of rain.

[26:54] Who hath begotten. The drops. Of dew. I do hope. This is profitable.

[27:08] I came back. From Eastbourne. Last night. I read part. Of this. Book of Job. Quietly. In the train. The more I read. I felt. Led to try. And speak.

[27:19] From it. Tonight. And especially. This latter part. You see. The display. Of the glory. Of God. You see. The lightnings.

[27:31] And the thunderous. The tremendous clouds. The tremendous power. In lightning. We can't say.

[27:41] Come and go. It's God. That orders it. And there again. We won't turn. To further thought there. But when trouble.

[27:51] Like a gloomy cloud. Has gathered thick. And thundered loud. He near my soul. Has always stood. His loving kindness. Oh how good. But then we read. Of Pleiades. And we read.

[28:03] Of Orion. Arcturus. The heavens. The majesty. Of God. But here. The great God. Speaks.

[28:13] Of a drop. Of dew. We don't think. Much of it. I mean. Literally. You go.

[28:23] To the eastern lands. You read. The word. Of God. And. A talk. By. You'll find there. That dew. Was a precious gift. And you see. One of the judgments.

[28:34] Of God. Was the withholding. Of dew. Now. What are we to know. About dew. When does it come.

[28:47] In the night season. When things are dark. When does it come. When there's stillness. All that we know.

[28:58] Something of that. Be still. Sit still. Stand still. Wait. Upon God. You don't wake up.

[29:10] In the middle of the night. And say. Oh. I can hear the dew. It comes. Silently. And yet. It comes. Powerfully.

[29:22] I remember. A friend. Telling me. In visit to. Israel. Going out. In the early hours. Of the morning. That you needed. Very strong footwear.

[29:33] Because of the penetration. Of the abundance. Of the dew. It comes with the. Softening.

[29:44] Influence. We thank God. For the showers. Of the blessing. But sometimes. It may be. He's begotten. A drop of dew. To soften.

[29:56] Your hard heart. And. The dew. Whilst it may not linger. But. It revives. It refreshes. It is.

[30:08] Abundant. You have to. Look at the. Wonder. Of the hand. Of God. When. In the early morn.

[30:20] And particularly. In the summer season. You look upon. Your grass. And see. Every blade. With. Touch. With a drop. Of dew. The abundance.

[30:31] Of it. And then. There's this. How it. Beautifies. Dew. Who. Teach it. Time. Are.

[30:41] Our eyes. Open. As we go. Into our garden. As we walk about. Lord. Speak to me. Teach me. Show me. More. Of the wonders. Of thy creation.

[30:52] And bless it. To my soul. For spiritual instruction. To humble me. And to make me. Rest. And rely. Holy. Upon. The Lord. God.

[31:02] God. I will take. Just one more. Instance. By way. Of conclusion. And we have. Again. Later. In the words. Of the.

[31:13] Almighty God. Canst thou. Bind. The sweet. Influences. Of. Pleiades. Or. Loose. The bands.

[31:24] Of Orion. What's. That. To do. With a child. Of God. What's. That. To do. With God's. Dear. People. We are.

[31:35] Told. That when. And I'll speak. First of Orion. When Orion. Is to be seen. It is the. Winter season.

[31:46] The dark time. The stormy. Season. The cold. Season. When. As. We have here. In. The earlier chapter.

[31:58] By the breath of God. Frost. Is given. And the breath of the waters. Is straightened. An Orion. Experience. A winter.

[32:10] Experience. And yet. There's. Blessing. We've named. At times. The blessings.

[32:20] Of the snow. The profit. Of the. Gardener. And the farmer. Of frost. Past. And. The. Cleansing. Nature. The. The cold. We shrink. I do.

[32:31] With the cold. But. It's needful. And. In it. Again. We see. God's care. Of his creatures. In the cold weather.

[32:42] It mustn't enlarge. There. One could speak. Of instances. That we have seen. But what about. This. Other. Pleiades. That's the.

[32:54] Springtime. That's. When. As we. Read. In the. Song of Solomon. How. That. Low.

[33:06] The winter. Is. Past. The rain. Is. Over. And. Gone. The flowers. You haven't seen any flowers.

[33:17] Perhaps. In the winter. I know there's some winter flowers. But. Largely speaking. Very little. But now the flowers. Appear. Wonderful. See those snowdrops come. The crocus.

[33:28] The affidavits. I speak simply. After that cold winter. Yes. They come. The influence. That's what Pleiades is. It's the influence of heaven. The warmth.

[33:40] The. The rain. And. The. The time of the singing. But. Why they start to sing again. Is come. And the voice of the turtle. Is heard again in our land.

[33:51] And the fig tree put forth her green figs. And the vines with a tender grape. Give a good smell. Arise. My love. I.

[34:02] Fare one. And. Come. Away. This is the sweet influence. Draw me Lord. Time. Oh.

[34:12] Warm my heart. Set my affections. Revive thy work. It's been so winter with my soul. It's been so hard. I've been so cold. So lifeless.

[34:22] Lord. Bring that. This experience. This Pleiades experience. Into. My heart. And. Revive.

[34:33] Thy work. Turn me. And I shall be turned. Renew my days. As of old. Who. Teacheth. Like. Him.
