[0:00] As the Lord may graciously lead a receipt to try to direct your minds a little to the chapter that we have read.

[0:12] The Gospel according to John chapter 17 verses 20 and 21. Neither pray I for these alone but for them also which shall believe on me through their word that they may all be one.

[0:35] As thou father art in me and I in thee that they also may be one in us that the world may believe that thou hast said there.

[0:49] The 17th chapter. The Gospel according to John verses 20 and 21. Without drawing unhue distinctions and unnecessary distinctions.

[1:03] Come here my beloved friends to the most sacred of all. The eternal Son of God in prayer. I go and draw I say unnecessary distinctions.

[1:19] But all my dear friend what a solemn revelation we have here. The infinite Son of God in prayer. What's he praying for?

[1:33] Read down the chapter. You're familiar with the wording of it. Do you know the truth of it my dear friend? Blessed. Blessed. Blessed. Blessed. Blessed.

[1:43] Blessed words. The revelation of his own eternal mind. Precious truth my dear friend. Ah. A glorious experience when we know it.

[1:56] I want something more than truth my dear friend. I love the truth. I trust I can say that. But I want something more than that. I want the application of it.

[2:08] Got it all here. Time forbids I shall be able to go down. The whole chapter. I think would and love to. One or two things that I must draw your attention to.

[2:22] I pray for them. I pray for them. Not I will pray for them. I am praying for them. Yes.

[2:33] Don't forget it my dear friend. And in the word before. Oh my dear friend. I believe I can speak for you all when I say I covet the prayers of God's family.

[2:48] God's redeemed people. They mean a lot to me. But oh my dear friend. This is eternal. This is eternal. Yes. I pray for them.

[3:01] There's nothing to be compared to this my dear friend. How deserving sinners. And he says I pray for them. Yes.

[3:12] He prays with the full knowledge. What they are. He prays. For the full pups. In his eternal mind.

[3:23] As to the outcome. It will all come my dear friend. Exactly. As he has eternally appointed. Through the medium of his prayers.

[3:37] That's what he's praying for. And pray for them. Your prayers and mine. My dear friend. Would you respect to all. They fail.

[3:49] Yes. You have not. Because he asked amiss. How many times. Does that word apply to you and I.

[4:00] My dear friend. We ask amiss. And with you respect again. To the prayers of our beloved friend. I don't want to say a word against them.

[4:11] My dear friend. Not one word. At all. They fail. They must fail. They don't know me. If they knew me. They probably wouldn't pray for me.

[4:23] No. I pray for them. Pray not for the world. There's a solemn distinction. My dear friend. I pray not for the world.

[4:36] At any time. No. Not at any time. They're out of the secret. Entirely. Oh my dear friend. Does it cause your anxious inquiry.

[4:47] As to where you stand. In this solemn matter. It does mean. My dear friend. It's not a question. It's not a question of profession. It's not a question of church membership.

[4:59] It's not a question of anything on earth at all. Am I in Christ? That's the vital question. Does he pray for me? Oh.

[5:11] To be the recipient. Of the prayers. Of the eternal son of God. And remember. Remember. Every one of his prayers.

[5:24] Will be answered. Father. I thank thee. That thou hearest me always. He never prays amiss.

[5:36] He never asks amiss. And therefore. Nothing is withhold. Because he asks. According to infinite wisdom. Complete understanding.

[5:50] He understands your case. My dear friend. And mine. He knows the hideousness of it. The awful reality of it. But in spite of it all.

[6:01] It is a claim for heaven. All the preciousness of it. My dear friend. Do you want me to think sweeter? The eternal son of God.

[6:13] The vilest sinner out of hell. That lives to feel his need. Is welcome. At the throne of grace. The savior's blood to feed.

[6:24] But I pray for him. Pray for him. Yes. To all the preciousness. Of the truth I say. No words of mine.

[6:35] No power of mine. Can convey it. But I pray that God may write it. Upon every one of our hearts. In this evening hour. And give us to know where we stand.

[6:47] In relation to it. Ah. He says a little further. Down the chapter. I pray not. That thou shouldest.

[6:57] Take them out of the world. But thou shouldest. Keep them from the evil. He knows the evil. My dear friend.

[7:09] And it's not. It's not all worldliness. My dear friend. The evil. The evil. Of the professing church.

[7:20] My dear friend. We're living in an awful day. Do you know it? Do you know something? Of the reality of it? The multitudes. That are being deceived.

[7:32] Oh. May God save us. From being caught up from it. Pray not. That thou shouldest. Take them out of the world. That's all right. They're in my control.

[7:44] But I pray. I pray. That thou shouldest. Keep them. From the evil. From the appalling evils. If I dare add a word to it.

[7:57] The appalling evils. That will only deceive. Our poor. Carnal minds. And heart. Oh.

[8:07] My dear friend. I want to be right. Whatever it costs. I want to be in Christ. I want to be the recipient of this.

[8:18] My dear friend. Yes. The whole chapter. From beginning to end. There's so much here. I mustn't tarry. Oh. But there's so much here.

[8:29] Read it again. It's your leisure. My dear friend. And read it slowly. And carefully. Yes. I have glorified them.

[8:41] On the earth. Not I will. I have. That's what the word says. Let God be true.

[8:55] And every man a liar. That's what he says. I have glorified them on the earth. Yes. And I come to thee as fathers.

[9:06] The time has come. Glorify thy son. That he may glorify thee. On the earth.

[9:18] Oh. The power. Power. Belongeth unto a precious Christ. My dear friend. Let's have no alternatives to this. Let's have no deceptions.

[9:31] For prevailing errors and evils. Oh. Friend. The glorious truth of the word of God. But I say again and again.

[9:42] Are you and I the recipients of it my dear friend. You and I know the power of it. I pray for them all. Every one of them.

[9:53] No distinctions. Distinctions. In the mind of God. We've got distinctions. In all our. In all. Our minds.

[10:04] We pray. For all who are near and dear to us. By the tires of nature. See it's all right my dear friend. I'm not finding fault. But we're limited.

[10:16] He says I pray for them. All of them. Every one of them. Individually. I pray for them. The pray is that thou wouldst keep them.

[10:30] From the evil. And he knows the evil. He knows the appalling characters of it. The insidiousness of it. He's praying it all.

[10:42] Read down the chapter. And that's what you'll see. That's the substance of his prayer. That his people might be kept. I'm trying to develop it.

[10:54] You can read it at your leisure. This. This is the background. This is the background. And I say the eternal.

[11:05] Son of God is in command. In communion. With his Father. In infinite wisdom. In infinite knowledge. In perfect understanding.

[11:17] And with mighty power. He's not asking. He's demanding. On the ground of his own. It's own and in love. All the precious truths.

[11:31] That come into the mind. If we sin. We have an advocate. With the Father. Jesus Christ. The righteous. I pray for them. There it is.

[11:43] There it is. An advocate. Pleading on our behalf. At the footstall of mercy. Not yesterday. Nor tomorrow. But this very moment.

[11:54] While we're here. In the house of God. This evening. I pray for them. I never cease to pray for. And there'll never be a moment. When you're not in need of it.

[12:06] My dear friend. You feel it more and more. All the preciousness. I say. Whatsoever. Was written.

[12:18] A poor time. Is written. For your learning. We need grace. To learn. To be brought. Into the right school. To learn. With the right teacher.

[12:30] To learn. Yes. He teaches us. To profit. Yes. It's more than you'll get. From the whims. And the fancies of man.

[12:41] If I. If I bring them in. The collective sense. Oh. I say. The deception. The delusion. Under. Under the heading.

[12:52] Of religion. The world's full of it. Yes. Satan. Satan. Even to the very.

[13:03] Deceiving. Of the very elect. That's power. I pray for them. He says. I know. I know. I pray for them.

[13:14] That they may be kept. From all evil. All classes of it. All phases of it. All degrees of it. Yes.

[13:27] The preciousness. I mustn't tarry. He widens his petition. Before us in the text. He's praying for the whole of his people.

[13:41] Manifest. Neither pray I for these alone. Neither pray I for these alone. But for them also.

[13:52] Which shall believe on me. Through their word. I pray for them. And not I will pray for them.

[14:07] Get it clear my dear friend. Do you see what this means my dear friend? While you and I were in unregenerate days.

[14:19] In the waste town. In wilderness. Wallowing in the mire. He was praying for us. Oh don't ask me to explain it.

[14:30] My dear friend. It's beyond my poor understanding. I need somebody better than I. To explain these precious truths. But this is what he's saying.

[14:42] This is what he's saying. I pray for all my manifest people. Yet all. But don't forget those. Neither pray I for these alone. But for them also.

[14:52] Which shall believe. On me. Through their word. He knows. He knows who they are. Where they are. What they are. Friend.

[15:04] This doesn't make you tremble. Just me. He saw me. Says the hymn writer. He saw me. Ruined in the fall.

[15:16] Yet loved me. Notwithstanding all. That's truth. My dear friend. Abiding truth. Written by a poor man.

[15:26] It's true. But he knew what he was writing. Yes. All the blessedness. All the blessedness of the truth is for me. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous.

[15:41] Yes. Now. In unregenerate days. Neither. Neither pray I for these alone. But for them also.

[15:52] Which shall believe on me. Through their word. No ifs and buts and pair of ventures with regard to this.

[16:04] Those who shall believe. He doesn't say those who I hope will believe ultimately. I hope will be persuaded by somebody to believe.

[16:17] No. No. That's not. That's not the purpose of God. My dear friend. That's not the hand of omnipotence. Come out from among me. Separate.

[16:28] Touch not the unclean thing. And I will receive him. Yes. This is the preciousness. Of the truth that he set before us.

[16:40] Neither pray I for these alone. But for them also. Everyone of them. Whoever they are. Wherever they are. Whatever they are.

[16:51] Pray for them all. And those whom thou hast given them. Thou mine. Thou gavest them me.

[17:02] And I have kept thy word. They have kept thy word. I have given them thy word. They have kept thy word. Is it true of you my dear friend?

[17:15] True of me? Or are you being swept aside. By modern thought and modern teaching. Are you seeking to please man my dear friend.

[17:26] Who I don't care who the man is. Wherever he is. If you are. If you are seeking to please man. My dear friend. Be very careful.

[17:38] Even if it's me. I don't mind that. No. One. One only. To please him. To live.

[17:50] A life that would please him. Oh do you long for it my dear friend. I pray for them. Pray for them. Neither do I pray for these alone.

[18:05] But for them also. He knows where you are my dear friend. He knows your condition. Yes. The dying thief on the cross.

[18:18] Yes. He said we. We are receiving just. The just reward of our deeds. But grace was imparted at the last moment.

[18:28] Lord. Lord remember me. When thou comest into thy kingdom. Today thou shalt be with me. I pray for you. I pray for you.

[18:40] I've been praying for you. A long time. I've been praying for you. From the beginning of the foundations of the earth. This isn't an afterthought with me.

[18:53] I've been praying for you. Today shalt thou be with me. Paradise. This is the blessedness I say.

[19:04] Of the truth. The unauthorable truth. Abiding truth. Thanks be to God. For his precious word I say.

[19:16] I would to God I could set it forth as it's worthy of it. Of what can a poor mortal man say. Or do. Whether it's me speaking or you in hearing.

[19:29] This is the precious truth. Neither pray I for them. But for those also. Which thou believe on me.

[19:40] You can't be hidden my dear friend. You'll have to come out sooner or later. Maybe the sooner rather than later. I don't. I've cited the dying thief my dear friend.

[19:53] But don't take advantage of it. Don't take advantage of it my dear friend. No. According to his divine will and purpose.

[20:05] Yes. He will call. I know my sheep and they follow me. That's true. That's the truth. Declared by this same apostle.

[20:17] Oh he knows them. He knows where they are. There'll be no mistakes my dear friend. He knows where they are. A soul of tasks.

[20:30] He knew where he was. He knew where he lived. He knew the street. He knew the number of the house. He knew it all. He knew he got a divine punch.

[20:44] And in response to the inquiry. Lord what was I happy to do? Go yonder and it'll be told with you what thou must do. Stunned. Tricked. Settled.

[20:56] Pray for them. Pray for them. And I pray for these all. Oh my dear friend. I can only repeat it. Are you the subject of these prayers?

[21:09] Is there anything you want to put in the place of it my dear friend? To be the subject of the prayers of the internal Son of God?

[21:22] Can you put anything in the place of them? Do you know anything? That can go in the place? And pray for them. Pray not for the world.

[21:36] But for those who thou hast given me. For thou art thine. And thine are mine. Yes. Oh eternally love.

[21:47] And eternally save. And eternally preserve too. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in.

[21:59] All the preciousness of this my dear friend. True he has said my thoughts are not your thoughts. And that again is a mercy my dear friend. There was only yesterday.

[22:12] In the Lord's name. Dear soul being called home. Yes. Can't mourn her. She'd gone home to be with Christ.

[22:24] So I pointed out to her loved one. Ninety years of age. Oh he said yes I know. I know. I said you wouldn't bring her back would you?

[22:34] No. He said I wouldn't. He said I shall miss her terribly. Of course I said I know. I've been there. I pray for them.

[22:46] Yes. Neither pray I for these alone. But for them also which shall believe on me through their word. That they all may be one.

[22:59] That's unity friend. That is the only unity that God will recognize. You can talk about unity till you're blue in the face.

[23:13] I don't care what it is my dear. I said there's only one unity. And that is unity in Christ. That they all may be one.

[23:26] One in essence. One in fullness. One in glory. One in participation. One in everything. One in everything. There will be no divisions.

[23:40] In eternal glory. There will be no male and female. No giving and receiving in marriage. Nothing of earth. Leave it all behind.

[23:52] That they all may be one. One. Oh the prospect my dear friend. Does it ever cross your poor mind? Oh sometimes I catch a glimpse.

[24:03] I believe now and again. I wish it was more often. I can say with one of old. More frequent. Let thy visits be. And let them longer last.

[24:15] That they all may be one. One. One. Not according to the mind of man. Nor the plan of man. I don't care who the man is.

[24:27] That they all may be one in us. All the fullness. That is set before us. All my dear friends. My master has set it all. Clearly.

[24:38] That they all may be one. As thou father art in me. And I in thee. That they all may be one in us.

[24:53] That's unity. That's the mind of a precious Christ. When man talks about unity. Well I don't know where you're going to get to.

[25:05] The world's full of it. The craving for it. Yes. Sacrifice this. Let's get together. Let's have unity.

[25:18] And I'll never get it. I'll never get it. I don't care what it is. This is the only unity. That they all may be one. No divisions.

[25:31] No divisions. No age. No youth. We shall all be one in Christ. We shall all be like Christ.

[25:44] We shall be with Christ. I can't explain glory to you. And you couldn't grasp it. Even if I could. But that is where. That is glory.

[25:56] And as one of us said. That will be glory to me. And it will. But he hadn't attempted. He hadn't tried to explain it. Here's the truth.

[26:08] The overruling truth. That they all may be one. I pray for them. We go together. We go together. That they all may be one.

[26:21] As thou father art in me. And I in thee. That they all may be one in us. That is unity I say.

[26:34] Whatever your conceptions are. I leave. Whatever my own conceptions are. I leave. That's the unity I want my dear. To be with Christ.

[26:47] To be like Christ. To see Christ. And I dare I say. To understand Christ. I don't know.

[27:00] Without a limitation. Oh dear oh dear. I try to dwell on a sundown. Nothing to mar. Nothing to hinder.

[27:11] Satan and all his hosts. Are all left behind. The carnal active mind. The wicked heart. Is left behind.

[27:23] We shall then. We shall all be then in one. In the full sense of it. Neither pray I for these alone.

[27:35] But for them also. That shall believe on me. Through their word. That they all. Maybe one. That is the ultimate purpose.

[27:47] Of a triune God. You say you can't see it. Neither can I my dear. But you won't see it. When you. As you look around. You won't see it today.

[28:00] My dear. You won't see it in this country. By any means. You won't see it in any particular country. God. God. God. He's got his people all over the world.

[28:14] Those who now have given me. Toward it. Sure. Eternal. And every one of them. Was chosen in him. Before the foundation of the world.

[28:24] That they should be. That was the eternal purpose. Of a triune God. God. But in the meantime.

[28:36] In the meantime. He says. I pray for them. That they may. That thou would escape them. From the evil. Because. Because. There's a great goal.

[28:49] Fix. That's got to be overcome. My dear friend. We're far off. By nature. Far off. By wicked works.

[29:01] You can underestimate. Sin. As much as you like. My dear friend. And I shall put it. As large as ever. I possibly can. Sin. Is a hideous.

[29:11] Sin. In the sight of God. It's abhorrent to him. Every kind. Of sin. It stands there. Your sins. He said to his.

[29:23] Your sins. He didn't describe them. He didn't say some of them. Your sins. Have separated. Between you.

[29:33] And your God. And that's where. Satan has brought us. Through our first parents. Driven out. Driven out.

[29:44] And a great goal. Fixed between us. Got to be overcome. My dear friend. I'm not detracting. From the text. For a moment. I pray for them.

[29:57] And I say. He prays for them. In unregenerate. That they may be. Brought over the gap. The gap. May be bridged. That we might be.

[30:10] Saved. With an everlasting. Salvation. Yes. Cleansed. In his atoning. Blood. From every sin. Every kind of sin.

[30:22] And every degree of sin. Yes. All that. And I'm not detracting. From it. Not for one moment. But that bridge.

[30:33] Has got to be gapped. That gap. Has got to be bridged. We've got to be brought. Back into union. Through Christ. Brought into a living.

[30:46] Relationship. With Christ. He's done it all. My dear friend. The whole world. Lay in wickedness. There's none. Righteous.

[30:56] No. Not one. But he saved them all. Every one of his children. Save them all. With an eternal.

[31:08] Salvation. I don't want any. Tampering with man. I don't want any misguidances. Of man. I want it all. From a precious Christ.

[31:19] He knows. What he's undertaking. He knows. What he must endure. Endure. He endured. Such contradiction. Of sinners.

[31:30] Against himself. We're exhorted. To remember it. Lest you be weary. And faint in your minds. And there's enough. In this world.

[31:40] My dear friend. If you're looking. In that direction. There's enough. To cause you. To weep. In very deep. It's alright.

[31:51] It's alright. My dear friend. I pray for them. I pray not for the world. But for those. Who thou hast given me. For thou thine. And thine are mine.

[32:03] Are one in us. Triune God. Blended. In the unison. Of the spirit.

[32:13] And that's the unity. My dear friend. That's the unity. The unity. Of the spirit. And the bond. Of peace. And abiding union.

[32:24] You're not here today. I'm gone tomorrow. You can't fall into this one day. And be out of it tomorrow. My dear friend. No. An abiding union.

[32:36] In Christ. Yes. And Christ in you. The hope of glory. Yes. I pray for them. That's the essence.

[32:48] Of his prayers. That's all he prays for. And he prevails. So I've already pointed out.

[33:00] Father. I thank thee. That thou hearest me. Oh. What a mercy. My dear friend. Are you the subject of it? Do you long to be the subject of it?

[33:11] I do. I want to feel it. My dear friend. I want the experience of it. I know I shall grasp it here below. But I want to know the application of it.

[33:23] Pray for you. Pray for you. Pray not for the world. But I pray for you. That you may be one. With us.

[33:35] Father. Son. And spirit. By grace. He said. Through faith. That not of yourself. It is the gift of God.

[33:48] Not of works. Lest any man should boast. He knows the reaction. And you've got the world full of it today. Full of it.

[33:59] Boasting. Priding themselves. We've accepted Christ. Very kindly. Very kindly.

[34:11] They're going to be deluded. And deceived. At the last great day. Many will say to me. In that day. Lord. Lord.

[34:22] Have we not prophesied. In thy name. And in thy name. Have cast out devil. And in thy name. Then done many wonderful work. Meanwhile I say to them.

[34:34] I never knew. Warful reality. My dear friend. May God save me from it. And you too. That they all may be one.

[34:46] In the unity of the spirit. The bond of peace. One in essence. One in desire. In eternal glory.

[34:58] Christ. In the glory. Christ. Will be all the glory. In Emmanuel's land. I can't understand. I don't want to be careful. What I say. But I must speak.

[35:10] As I. As I. As I feel. I hope the Lord has taught. Talked to those. Who are going to roam around. When they get there. If they get there. To see who's there.

[35:22] They want to know who's there. I don't want to know who's there. Except one person. Am I there. That's there. That's the important thing. And is Christ there.

[35:35] That's the vital matter. Christ. In you. In you in Christ. Pray for me. Neither pray I.

[35:46] For these alone. But for them also. Which shall believe on me. Through their word. That they all. May be one.

[35:59] As thou father art in me. And I in thee. That they all may be one. In us. That's unity. Not one with each other.

[36:12] But one with Christ. And with the father. And with the spirit. One in us. That the world may believe. The world is going to stand there.

[36:25] And thou have to believe. Every eye shall see him. Every eye.

[36:36] Oh my dear friend. What an awful. What an awful unfolding. It will be to some. To the ungodly.

[36:48] Thou see the king in his glory. Only to be told. Depart from thee. That is the portion. Every eye shall see him.

[37:01] They also. Whom thou who have pierced him. They shall all see. Where will he stand. My dear friend. Where shall I stand.

[37:14] In that grey day. Are you and I partakers of this. My dear friend. Or am I talking about something. It is beyond our conception.

[37:26] Beyond our understanding. It's true. Our poor minds can't grasp. The wonder of it all. The glory of it all. The spirit.

[37:39] Can take of the things of Jesus. And reveal them. And seal them. And then. We shall know. Then we shall know.

[37:50] Not till then. Not till then. How much we owe. We shall know it here below. My dear friend. We can catch a glimpse.

[38:02] Here and there. We can cry. More frequently. Let thy visits be. We can leave alone. Be a glimpse. My dear friend. In the morning dawns.

[38:14] The shadows will flee away. There'll be no shadows. No shadows. We shall enter.

[38:27] Into the realities. I can't. I can't describe it. I can't grasp it. My dear friend. I'm only trying. Trying. As they're able to put it before you.

[38:38] A little. And it's precious little. The best. But we shall see Christ. We shall know Christ. We shall rest in Christ. We shall live in Christ.

[38:48] We shall live upon Christ. It'll be all Christ. We shall be concerned about who's there. And who isn't there. That'll only bring sorrow.

[39:00] Even if you're brought to know it. No. That they all may be one. One unity. One with the Father.

[39:12] Before all worlds. Very God. A very God. That's begotten. Not mine. Eternal. In the heavens. He became.

[39:24] Of no reputation. That we. Through his poverty. Might be made rich. And the indescribable riches.

[39:34] Of eternal glory. Are beyond human conception. Somebody better than. Far better than I. Can perhaps explain. Beyond me.

[39:46] My dear friend. I'm only trying. To scratch the surface. And that's a precious little too. But this. Is the blessed truth. Neither pray I.

[39:56] For these alone. He's already said. I pray for them. Or the manifest one. Neither pray I. For these alone. He gather's them all. Present.

[40:08] And absent. Those who are manifest. And those who are not manifest. They're all the subject. Of his prayers. Not they will be.

[40:18] They are now. Be careful. My dear friend. How you live. Be careful. How you live. It's required.

[40:32] Be quiet. My dear friend. That we should be ready. Oh. To be found ready. When the call. Shall come. That it may be.

[40:44] To eternal glory. And not to. Not to an endless. Hell. Oh. Gracious. Gracious. Lord. We need. To be assured.

[40:56] In written. This. Blessed matter. And these things. These things. The chapter begins. These things. Spake Jesus.

[41:18] On the earth. And so on. And so. As I say. You can read the chapter down. Read it before you go to bed. My dear friend. And then lay your head. Upon the pillar. And go quietly to sleep.

[41:31] And if you're preserved. To see the light of the morrow. May it be. If not in earth. In heaven. In eternity.

[41:43] An eternity. To behold a precious Christ. In the reality. Here. We have no continuing city. We seek one.

[41:54] To come. I hope that's the prospect. My dear friend. With each one of us. Gathered here this evening. We may not be a great. Crowd in number.

[42:04] But we are. Amongst the two. Or the three. And he has said it. Where two or three are gathered. Together in my name. There am I. I'm in the midst. He's in the midst.

[42:17] Whenever we're gathered. In his name. Be careful. My dear friend. How you gather. For what purpose. You gather. I hope you haven't come.

[42:28] Just to hear me. My dear friend. You go. I've got a whole deluded. It's quite certain. That this precious truth. This precious truth.

[42:38] Has lingered. I trembled. I trembled a good deal. About it. The Lord. Had only been pleased. To give me another word. In the place of this. That all.
