[0:00] I'll mention your word for the Bible, the fifth chapter of the first epistle of Peter, reading verses 6 and 7. Verses 6 and 7 of chapter 5, the first epistle of Peter.

[0:17] Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exhort you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.

[0:34] Here we find the apostle Peter.

[1:04] Speaking of that, the good way in which the children of God should walk.

[1:18] He says in verse 5, All of you be subject one to another, and be found with humility.

[1:32] For God resisteth the plan, and give a place to the humble. Humble yourself then.

[1:43] Oh, you might have to blame, but if you resist that in your time, then you shall be cast in.

[1:53] Oh, but God give a place to the humble. Oh, you say, well, that is very true, I know that, but in my heart, you know, brother, that evil, or that flesh, which does so make me to be rebellious.

[2:20] Or the psalmist says, the rebellious dwell in the dry land. And you know, the people of God, they have to learn by experience as they walk along the pilgrimage, the church of God.

[2:37] That the rebellious dwell in the dry land. And such is our nature, that pride is inbuilt into us.

[2:50] And you know, very often, we find it for small things. All the small things that come into our way. They interfere with the way that we want to go.

[3:03] And as these things come into our experience, then rebellion rises up in our hearts. If you look like that, you're different today. Oh, I believe many of the Lord's dear people, you know, walking that way.

[3:17] They know the rebellion of their own hearts. Oh, they're real common little conflict with the will of God. And they raise their hands against God.

[3:32] Hear the world. Oh, have you not heard them? They say, if there is a God, why are these things happening?

[3:43] Why are they suffering in prison? And they rebel against God. And that's in human sense. And it's in there.

[3:55] And it brings us into trouble. Brings us into grief. Oh, that rebellion, you know, it brought Joan, did he not, into great trouble.

[4:08] Oh, it brought him to that place that he rebelled against the will of God, where he had to try out of like a barrier of hell, child. And have you not been there?

[4:20] Have you not been there, dear child, dear others? You have rebelled against the Lord. Oh, you have said, no, not this way. Oh, no, I am not walking in such a way as that.

[4:33] Why has this thing come into my path? And you are in there. And you are the Lord. He sees you in your in-down.

[4:47] Oh, he says, leave him alone. Leave him alone. And you are the only man. Terrible spirit. Of rebellion against the Lord.

[4:59] Have you not been there? You know, the psalmist in Psalm 107 comes to mind. This speaks of what is in my mind.

[5:14] Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron, because they rebelled against the word of God, and contemplate counsel of the Most High.

[5:35] Therefore, he brought down their heart with labour. And there was a great truth in that, a great depth in that.

[5:47] And Peter knew it. Oh, Peter knew what he was, to go out and to weep bitterly. As he was found denying his Lord and Master.

[6:00] Therefore, he brought down their heart with labour. They fell down. And there was none there. What have you been there?

[6:13] Dear child of God, in all the sad state of your heart, have you been there? Rebellion came from. This poor sin knows.

[6:25] And I feel I know what I speak of. But, oh, do we not know the truth in our heart that God gives Christ to life?

[6:40] Oh, we know it, but we cannot turn ourselves. Oh, do you know that? That place? Oh, you would walk in the ways of the Lord, there is that within you, that yearns to be found in submission to the one of the Lord.

[6:58] And yet there is that within which we know. Oh, there is that warfare in your heart, poor sinner. Oh, you're not alone in it.

[7:10] You're not alone. This is like, why are many of the Lord's dear children? But it is to such that the apostle speaks, he says, humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God.

[7:29] All this is like sweet thanks, sweet place of submission to all the Lord. we have a low character, you know, in the word of God that have laid before us, who have been found in that horrible place.

[7:53] Always a place, a mercy, it's a place of peace, or to lie submissive in his hands and now, now we're not in it.

[8:07] There's no place like it. Oh, it don't matter how deep your trouble, how deep your sorrow, if the Lord brings you into that humble place.

[8:20] I say, it's a sweet place. It's a place of peace to the Lord among their people. Follow yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God.

[8:39] It's wonderful, you know, when we can see that those things that happen to us are according to the will of the Lord.

[8:51] Oh, that it is his way for us, that this is the way wherein he is leading us. We find that that place of submission to the will of the Lord, I say, is a precious, precious place of peace.

[9:13] We, you may remember the servant of the Lord, David, when he was brought into great trouble.

[9:29] He sinned against the Lord regarding Matthew. And you know, David was told by Nathan, the prophet, that his and he was pardoned, but that he should be brought into great trouble, that trouble should arise out of his own house.

[9:55] And we find David repenting, a sweet place of repentance, that which alone is given by God.

[10:06] And God gave David repentance, and he came, and he penned that sweet song, 51, which has been a blessing to many of the Lord's children over the years.

[10:21] And we find David as he flees from the face of Absalom, his son. And David went up by the ascent of Mount Olivet, and wept, he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot, and all the people that was with him covered every man in his head, and they went up weeping to his hands.

[10:47] Now here is David, humble, humble before his God. Here is David, owning his sin before the Lord.

[11:00] And you may remember that as he went, there was one, Shimei who came out and cursed him. and he filled stones and he filled dust at David.

[11:13] And David was in that humble place. We find that one, Abishai, he says, why should this dead dog curse my Lord the king?

[11:29] Let me go over and take up his head. And the king said, what have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the Lord had said unto him, curse David.

[11:45] All shall then say, wherefore hast thou come slough? thou have I said to Abishai and to all his servants, behold, my soul which came forth of my bell seeketh my life.

[12:00] How much more now may this Benjamin and I do it. Let him alone, and let him curse, for the Lord hath bidden him. It may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and that the Lord will be quietly good for his cursing this day.

[12:19] Now there he faith, spirit of humility, as seen in David. Oh David, saw every cause why he should be brought into this trouble.

[12:34] And you know, as we write the other eyes open, we can say every cause why the Lord should contend with us.

[12:45] All that sweet spirit shown by his name. All that we could ever walk in that place.

[12:57] You know, I remember when I had to go before the church and had the meeting with regard to the ministry.

[13:08] And that evening I got to get back and I was out of business quite a distance away and I sat back and just about enough time to do it and I ran into the end and there was a great minor track and before there was a farm track going on the road and it seemed as though all was impossible and you know I have that peace to say but the Lord so blessed me at that time that this word came to make for my Lord and I that sweet spirit of your village who are cruel to be a blessing and I chatted the island of the session which goes slowly and I got near the time and I was tempted to speak to the Lord's people and to say a few things in the preaching of the dust and you know

[14:12] I should never forget that by my nature I would have been most red and the Lord gave that spirit of new nature and so we can come likewise with the apostle with his exhortation humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exhort you in due time or maybe there is someone here this morning coming to the Lord's house in that rebellious state I know not I know feeling that all these things are against them or if you're a child of God all these things are for you he noticed the name he was brought to the blessed experience and fellowship with the Lord and

[15:12] Savior Jesus Christ in his son God oh it's our trials it's our complexities it's our marriages you know our very experiences that bring us into a knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ humble your soul therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may or chill in due time we find the Lord's servant Micah the prophet he was one who knew that way he said I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him until he might cause and execute judgment from may he will bring me forth to the light and I shall behold his righteousness and so we could go through a

[16:19] Bible and find those characters in that sweet place also comes to mind one who was brought into great trouble that was Abacut and he said this he says although the will shall not blossom neither shall fruit be in the minds the laver of the olive shall pale and the field shall yield no meat the flock shall be cut out from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls yet I will rejoice in the Lord I will joy in the God of my salvation the Lord God is my strength and he will make my feet bright hands feet and he will make me to walk upon my high places humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of

[17:20] God that he may exhort you in due time love and we read did we not of that perfect pattern of humility as we read of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ oh we find there in that second chapter of Philippians let this mind be which was also in Christ Jesus who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God but made himself a lower reputation and took upon him the poor of the servants and was made in the likeness of men and here we have our great example the Lord and Savior Jesus

[18:20] Christ what a stoop did the Lord Jesus Christ make as he came from heaven's eye caught above came to dwell upon the earth came to suffer leave and die being just for the unjust but made himself of no reputation or we love a reputation do we not or we would hesitate to mere reproach or we like to be well thought on but made himself a downer to touch and took upon him the form of a servant that was made in the likeness of men and being held in passion as a man he humbled himself and became obedient unto death even the death the cross now here was the perfect pattern of humility as the

[19:46] Lord Jesus Christ walked beyond this sin cursed earth and he set that example for his people and once as we do it most but taste the country the Lord himself a drunken up all those little troubles those little circumstances that bring us into rebellion oh compare them with the place of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we find that the apostle Paul in writing to the Hebrews in those early chapters he records this for it became him for all are all things and by all things in bringing many sons unto glory to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings for thou be that sanctify and they are sanctified are all one for which cause he is not ashamed to call them breath for we learn to be used we read by the things that he suffered and you will find as you look at my children of

[21:32] God that those that walk humbly those walk closest to the Lord are often those who walk through a path of suffering those that bear much return those that know much tribulation these are those that come the woman search these are those that are found walking closest to the Lord these are the men and women of prayer we've known some have been after we have seen her walk the song which do I remember while her dear grandmother I shall never get walked to many places of trial and of trouble and of affliction and yet she was a humble the apostle Paul was you know we find the apostle

[22:33] I believe in writing to Philippians he could say this I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound everywhere and in all things I have instructed both to be poor and to be hungry both to abound and to sovereign and he gives a secret of it he says I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me wherefore in all things it be old him to be made right unto his brethren that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God to make reconciliation for the sins of the people humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of

[23:37] God that he may exhort you in due time humility ever comes before us the word of God bears him and while we're walking in rebellious way while we're rebelling against the Lord you know we realize that separation that separation but as a father pity his children so the Lord he know the Lord he know that we are but just he know as the child is brought to the father in humanity naturally speaking how the father's heart turns towards the child all you fathers who have to punish your children well let the child repent the child has come in humility to you the child has come and apologised and confessed his fall as your father gave to your children oh that's not that of a father burn in your heart and tell it his good

[25:07] God how is his good God or he loves the same those penitent sinners return the Lord when he was here on earth it recorded in the seventh chapter of Luke how that one of the Pharisees designed him that he would eat for them and he went into the Pharisee house and the Sabbath meet and there was a woman who came a woman in the city which was a sinner and she knew that Jesus suddenly in the Pharisee house she brought her master by the lois and luckily she stood at his feet behind him he he was the old place he was one that felt unworthy of the least of all his mercy he was one convicted of her sins he was one in shame coming as it were if she could not touch the

[26:26] Lord and she comes behind him at his feet weep she began to wash his feet with tears and did wipe them with the air to her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment and Pharisee you may remember of time and said this man if he were a prophet would have no and what manner of woman it is that touches him for she is a sinner Jesus actually said unto him Simon I have stalled one to say unto thee and he said say on and the Lord speaks of those two debtors one that owed 500 pence and one that 500 pence and he says when they had nothing to pay he frankly forgave them both tell me therefore which of them will love him love him they said

[27:31] I suppose to thee to all thee to gave most and he said unto him there are rightly judged and he turned to the woman and said unto Simon she is there this woman all this humble soul that came to the feet of Jesus this one that came weeping behind him this one that came in this humble life and he said unto her thy sin love him all thy sin love him this is the compassionate Lord God this is a most to see his children come in that humble way confessing their sins humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may also in due time we find if we look into the early books of

[28:38] Moses in one place it says there shall remember all the way the Lord thy God of Bethlehem these many years the wilderness to humble thee and to prove thee and to know what is in my heart whether thou would keep his commandments now or can you remember a few spots and places dear child of God have you a Bethlehem you can go back to that place where you felt to be at the very end of the earth all that place of great need your soul experience that time when the Lord brought you into that place of humility by his grace and nothing less than the grace of God you know will bring you there will bring you into that spot of that place that place of blessing humble yourselves therefore under a mighty friend of

[29:48] God that he may torture in due time and all the Lord leads his people through this wilderness of earth he is working for their goals oh yes he's working for their goals we're ready now reading for it is God which works in here both to will and to do of his compassion all these circumstances they don't come by chance oh if you're brought into a place of great trial be not surprised oh this is the way we're in the Lord has ever led to people this is the way where he brings you to his this is the way where he brings you into prayer to leave trouble and grace without your trouble without your trial without your feeling of insufficiency would you pray if you would be different to man oh when things go so easily when things all seem to go right to tell the days precious to do you not languish in prayer do you not find that hole that within but all the

[31:25] Lord knows and rings he brings you into trouble brings you into trouble brings you into perplexity brings you to his fate brings you to pray blessed place I say humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exhort you in time for the end the end of the purposes of God with his people is to exhort them for yes he brings the takes the beggar from the don girl and sets him amongst the princes of history you know in our simplicity in our early days we may look at the way of the Lord and we may have our ideas about the

[32:28] Lord will bring us to heaven at last but you know our ideas will ever cool different is always never find that the will of God is such that shall bring a conflict in our experience you know you find in writing to the Romans we look at the fifth chapter he says this he says therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ by you also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God and not only so but with glory in tribulation also what you say glory in tribulation glory in tribulation also knowing that tribulation all all these are who will come out of great tribulation and wash their nobles and make them white in the blood of the land and that shall be said of every child of

[33:55] God oh oh he says and not only sorrow but we glory in tribulation also knowing that tribulation work of patience oh tribulation work of patience you you give a child his own way you know but he spoils he spoils oh our impatient is a spoilt child our spoilt child will put out its hand and expect to receive whatever it wants we've seen them have we've got the spoilt children but you know the Lord has no children like that oh no oh no they make no attention from time to time they might be brought into a fight and rebellion but he chastised his hand oh he brings them into tribulation and that tribulation work of patience work of patience works in the water oh he brings their heart a dare deliver and then they cry unto the

[35:08] Lord in their trouble and we raise him a song and cried unto the Lord in their trouble and he delivered them out of air distresses blessed word how that men were praise for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men and not only but the glory tribulation also knowing that tribulation work of patience and patience experience and experience hope and hope not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the holy God which is near another all blessed chain in that blessed chain tribulation experience hope love and

[36:09] God shed a glory in our hearts this is the way of the signs this is the way that the children of God ever walked you know if you come into the Psalms you'll find the language of a living soul and in the Psalms all the experiences of the Lord's children are held or we find as harvest brought in humility to cry to the Lord humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exhort you in due time is this not your experience dear child and God or is this not a pointer as to whether we are walking in the ways of the Lord to know more true religions real religions more than nations something must be known about and it's only by the blessed spirit that a child of

[37:27] God he brought to be more likely Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ oh he might make the apostle says but growing loose and in the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ it's by the trial it's by the trouble it's by the cross that we are brought into subjection Lord by the grace of God to yield to him humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may exhort you in you time all that exhort that exhort you know we follow the Lord we shall be brought into that place of exhort we read did we not have been held in passion and man humbled himself and became old being unto death even the death of the cross wherefore

[38:47] God also and highly exhorted him and given him a name which is above every name or given him a name which is above every name and you know what name is written upon the Lord dear people all he writes his name of all he writes his name of my God for what exalting is life unto that of the Lord's only people what name is better than a name of sons and daughters all troubled shy perplexed child God as you are brought into the place of sorrow it is that he might inform you in use always to make you realize you're nothing best always make you realize your dependence upon the

[39:53] Lord is to make you realize the terrible sin of your own heart is to make cry to him mercy oh this is the Lord this is the Lord my religious people on walk yourself therefore unto the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in time how blessed him if we can see the measure that the Lord hand is upon us if we can trace out our path line and see those spots and places where the Lord brought us in that humble place brought us to cloud him brought us in submission to his own home I will just mention one spot of experience before

[40:55] I close when I was seeing a partner in life you know there was one young lady I was very keen on and I prayed to the Lord that she might come my way and I remember that it was in my early days of experience I'd been out into the world as a great sinner and I'd leave the Lord and let me back to start attending his house again and I didn't tell the dial this girl I prayed night after night I prayed and I prayed and in the end I was broken hearted I really mean I was broken hearted before before and I remember one night that the

[41:55] Lord in his mercy broke into that place of submission and you know I think I really prayed my first third night prayer and I said Lord do provide a wife of my choosing and you know when I was brought to that place then the Lord began to work for the Lord began to work for me and then the Lord within a few weeks brought me into contact with my wife my present wife and he took one out of the world and brought us together and you know we came to that place where we were loved that time and neither knew the other was coming and this was the way of the Lord and I looked back to that spot that place where I I wept my girl to you but when I wept it oh Lord I said Lord thy mouth not my head and that's human that's the place of being alive where we could come and say

[43:04] Lord I will be done then we've got into that understanding of the mind of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ oh he says not my will but thine be done and this is the purpose this is the purpose of the coming of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that we might perform the will and the power brought into perfect obedience with regard to the salvation of his own dear people that number which were given into the hands of my Lord and Saviour did you know the Lord brought to that place where he said if it be possible let this cop pass on me oh if it possible but not my will but thine desire and that's the place of the oh that's the place of the oh you could sigh always and do that please humble humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of

[44:20] God that he may torture in new time casting all your care upon him for he cares you if the Lord keep it with us in your further in that word in the afternoon may that is blessed to
